Chet Holmgren’s rookie year stats are insane. 15.7 pts, 2.6 assists, and 7.5 rebounds (with 2 blocks and 1 steal) per game.

Throw in his shooting splits of 52.7 / 46.3 / 90, a feat achieved only by nine other players in the NBA, and you not only have an argument for rookie of the year but a historic one at that.

For comparison, Wembanyama is averaging 18.6 points, 2.5 assists, and 9.3 rebounds (with 2.4 blocks and 1 steal) per game, but at much less efficient 43.2 / 28.3 / 76.6 shooting splits.

Regardless, excited to witness the dawn of what could be basketball’s next great rivalry.

Watching those two play against each other another day… reminded me why the league started to push the focus on spacing. Clogged up lanes make for boring basketball.
