I truly believe they have Jordan Poole and that massive contract so there can be no thought of “tanking.” I think adding expensive talented players who are to immature to lead a team but could but won’t, is a great way to lose without backlash and get you what you want. You don’t have to worry about the culture Jordan want’s because you’ll dump him when you need to, and the fans can’t say you purposely lost games cuz well “we got up and comer Jordan Poole who helped golden state to a ring and Kyle Kuzma it just didn’t work”

Lets be clear, they didn't need him to tank, that was going to happen either way. And I doubt they feel the need to have someone to point to as a sign that they are actually trying, and even if they did Kuzma already fills that role. Poole was a strategic move to see if they could buy low and sell high on a guy that is clearly talented but not living up to his talent. Unfortunately for them he's been too much of a dummy to take advantage of this situation and lost more value if anything.

They needed him to fill the salary floor. You need to find high paying guys to meet the floor and still suck enough to tank. Can't just be 15 min salary players.
