I see Richardson often lumped in with Stroud as rookie QBs who were balling out.

I disagree. Richardson showed some high end talent, but his Rams game was very ugly passing wise. He had 4 completion thru 53 minutes of the game

Richardson ranked 33rd in passing grade by PFF.
He had the 4th worst on target throws.
The Colts ran a very simple pass offense
He had the lowest pass yards per game.

Now coming off a shoulder surgery, it just doesn't seem like he is going to succeed.

That's not even close to accurate. By the time 5 minutes of the 4th quarter had elapsed (the 50 minute mark), he was 8 of19 with a TD and a two point conversion.

That said, it's wayyyy too soon to answer this question, and his shoulder injury is not a concern.
