That sounds like a moderation nightmare, engagement nightmare or both. Twitch is a big established platform that makes it easy to reach people. It's nor great but it will serve his purpose better than sacrificing the message for principle.

Yes, that's the problem.
The principle is the message.
He could livestream to multiple platforms.
Personally I'd enjoy a stream to any federated/open source platform like peertube.

Why does it matter?
Because Twitch is owned by a tech oligopolist. One of a handful actively running this country into the ground. The one who paid Melania $28M to make a movie that no one wanted. (AKA a bribe). The one who's responsible for killing more small businesses than anyone else, ever? I mean I could go on...
