Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Pedophiles. Some of us are quite charming and not overtly creepy. It's the super obvious ones that give us all a bad rap.
Man shut yo bitch ass up
Civility violation.
Hold on - this was a joke, wasn't it? i.e "some of us are (...) not overtly creepy" is a pun because it implies all pedos are creepy to some extent and the 'good ones' are the ones who manage to keep their creepiness hidden
Yes, it was a joke. I picked a group people would have strong feelings about and pretended to be a part of it as a bit of dark humor.
That wasn't dark humor, it was just dumb and cringe
This was easy to fall for since the advent of overt and "out" online pedophiles. First thing I ever learned about fediverse is that there are instances that the u.s. gov is monitoring for hosting specifically that
I guess I am probably on their list now, then. I expect an invitation to Mar-a-Lago will be coming soon.
Nice, making it easy to block your pedo ass.
Poe's Law in action.

That’s where “/s” comes from at the end of posts - just to confirm you were being sarcastic.
Without tone and facial expression it’s very hard to guarantee that your words are ever read in the spirit they are written.
Yeah, the "/s" does a lot of heavy lifting eh -- especially with polarizing or dark matters. I can see that Amidfuror meant it as joke, albeit poorly delivered as a result.
