A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I have some very damaged film from my childhood with some deceased members of family on it that I am hoping I can get developed. When I say damaged, I mean mean the canister holding the film is very, very dented and about an inch of the film is hanging out of it. I know it doesn't stand too much of a chance, but being that the rest of the film is still inside of it and hasn't been exposed to any light, I am still holding out hope.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places that they think will be able to quite literally pry this film out of death's clutches?

You can send it to these guys. I occasionally shoot film and send it to them. They do a great job and can scan it for you too. https://reformedfilmlab.com/
