A former U.S. Marine pilot fighting extradition from Australia on U.S. charges of training Chinese military pilots to land on aircraft carriers, unknowingly worked with a Chinese hacker, his lawyer said.

Daniel Duggan, 55, a naturalised Australian citizen, feared requests by Western intelligence agencies for sensitive information were putting his family at risk, the lawyer said in a legal filing seen by Reuters.

The lawyer's filing supports Reuters reporting linking Duggan to convicted Chinese defence hacker Su Bin.

Duggan denies the allegations that he broke U.S. arms control laws. He has been in an Australian maximum security prison since his 2022 arrest after returning from six years working in Beijing.

Here's the non paywall archived article. It's an update to a Reuters article from last year.

If you have the means please donate to the EFF or archive.org or Reuters themselves as they are doing their best to bring balanced reporting to us all

Cosmic is a sunshine troll who reports comments he doesn't agree with for being uncivil.

I got fed up with him for constantly complaining about paywalls, went so far as to give him an archived link of both the original article and the update, and it still wasn't enough.

Then he goaded me into flaming him, I took the bait, he reported my comments and got most taken down. Then after I posted the archive link again with how and where to donate he tried to glad hand my comment, all the while he never looked for the article himself on archive.is nor archive.org. Because "paywall links are beyond the pale"!

Thus the moniker of him being a sunshine troll.

Now I'll patiently wait for this comment to be removed as well.
