Donald Trump says he boycotted last week’s arraignment in Georgia on election interference charges to protest in-court camera coverage of his upcoming trial.

The former president claimed in a fundraising email that he was infuriated by Fulton County judge Scott McAfee’s decision to allow all hearings and a possible trial to be broadcast on the court’s YouTube channel.

“Why would I fly down to Atlanta just to hear over a dozen FALSE CHARGES brought against me on live TV?” Mr Trump wrote in a message to supporters obtained by the New York Post pleading for more money.

Didn't he say that he wanted cameras at some point?

He also said if he lost the election we'd never hear from him again

[–] NounsAndWords@lemmy.world 43 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And we all knew exactly what he'd say about the election results as soon as he said that.....

I thought we all knew he always says whatever he thinks he could benefit from at any give time, no matter if he believes it or not. No matter if it's the exact opposite of what he said two seconds ago.

I'm not sure Trump even has beliefs per se. Just reactions.

Trump said that only because he already knew that federal courts bar televising the hearings or recording them in any fashion. Source.

The difference is that the Georgia case is being heard in a state court, which is not subject to this restriction.

Honestly, there is no point in paying attention to anything Trump says. Nothing has any relation to reality or the truth. You can only come away from that experience more ignorant than you went in.

He does.

So that he can do this.

He realized he can't just point at the judge and say, "you're fired," so he doesn't like getting ratings this way.

He may not know much, but he knows the difference between a taped performance where the producers are trying to make him look good, and a live performance where he'll be seen exactly as he is.

Yep. For all the people saying "but trump is great on camera". You've been suckered too. When he can't control the narrative or immediately discredit the evidence against him he is largely powerless and looks like the common crook he is.

Considering he can't keep his mouth shut I think there's a very real chance we see him slapped with contempt and tossed in the clink.

Oh how glorious it would be to see him in an orange jumpsuit.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

orange traitor bouta get ALL them ratings. bring that shit.

[–] downpunxx@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Just wait until the judge proclaims what Trump is found guilty of...
