A judge's February ruling that found former President Donald Trump and his company committed hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud should be tossed out, attorneys for Trump said in an appeal filed Monday.

Trump's lawyers called the $454 million judgment "draconian" and complained that the "case violates centuries of New York case law."

Judge Arthur Engoron found that Trump, his company and top executives, including his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr., deceived banks and insurers for years, inflating Trump's wealth on financial statements in order to obtain favorable deal terms they wouldn't have otherwise received.

Engoron concluded the Trumps and their company benefited to the tune of $354 million in "ill-gotten gains" through the scheme, and ruled they must pay the state that sum plus interest of about $100 million.

I can see why he needs to practice appealing. He doesn't appeal to me.

If he wasn’t appealing cases he wouldn’t be appealing at all

He's not very appealing but damned if he doesn't appeal

case violates centuries of New York case law.

No worries. The Supreme Clowns of the United States have already been clear that precedent means nothing.

SC: Precedent, what precedent? I don’t see any precedent. I do however see our next president!

So remind me, there was the big circus getting the collateral to put up just to make the appeal many months ago, but the appeal is now just being made? Or was the first appeal rejected by the judge and the verdict is now being appealed to a higher court? When will this buffoon run out of options to appeal?

Engoron sanctioned five Trump lawyers $7,500 each in September 2023 for "repeating these frivolous arguments" after they were rejected by courts multiple times.

Also what penalties are there for his lawyers gunning up the system with these endless, baseless appeals?

The wheels of justice turn very slowly. There's usually a lot of time between filing, being heard by the court, and ruling. It's definitely not like on TV. The "normal" time between events is measured in months and weeks.

It's very important that the judicial system gets these verdicts correct. The system will grant an appeal based on subjectively lesser legal circumstances.

We all know he's probably guilty. And, by time the system is done with him, he'll have been given such an unreasonably fair trial that we can be nearly certain of it. You want him gone forever? Be patient. Or, pick up a rifle.

You answered your own question:

How dare the state make him pay back the money he stole
