/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

Fun will now commence.

Good thing she was out in the middle of nowhere so most people never saw it.

It’s very confusing that there are three series in production simultaneously taking place ~15 years after the TNG/DS9/VOY era, but they’re all taking place a few years apart. It’s gotta be playing hell with any behind the scenes efforts on continuity, too.

I know that the Prodigy people and the Picard people were talking to each other to make sure no one's toes were stepped on.

Except that both had season arcs involving fleets being commandeered by a unified force.

So did Lower Decks and Discovery. It's less of a bug and more of a feature at this point.

Probably broke out a follicle stimulator after regretting that haircut or went to visit Geordi and the Enterprise-D at the fleet museum to grab one of her old wigs.

(Made that in Paint on my work PC, lol, and don't have my usual fonts/templates)

Season 3 of Picard is more than a decade after Prodigy season 2. If a person can’t grown their hair out in 14+ years they need more than a follicle stimulator.

But the scene did drive home that Ed Speleers looked incredibly old in 2501 for a child that was just gurgling when Westley visited in Prodigy season 2.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 4 points 3 months ago

Oh, I just meant to grow it out faster due to regret.

He was old enough to ask Wesley what his name was though. It was really unclear to me how old Jack was supposed to be.

Dude was 34-35ish playing someone 10 years younger. He gave a decent performance, but sorely miscast.

[–] StillPaisleyCat@startrek.website 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Closer to 15 years younger unfortunately since Matelas insisted that it was still 2501. The makeup and cinematography unfortunately made him look closer to 40 at times. UHD can be very unforgiving but EPs casting are in denial.

Speleers has made public that he read for the part of Jim Kirk for SNW, and I can really see how that would have worked.

Thanks for the sobering correction. Reminds me of a latter day Simpsons moment I happened to catch:

Bear in mind, this was aired in 2006.

What? Her hair in Picard was awesome. She looks better than any of the other actors now. She has aged amazingly.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago

That's the joke. She went back to the old hair.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Her hair looked great, but I got the sense that whatever pressures older actresses feel when they get a prominent role after a lull, they hit Gates McFadden pretty hard. Lots of things looking very obviously stretched and sliced and filled. I think something happened, either in "real" life, or in per personal perception of her career needs, around 2018, judging by these photos. Marina Sirtis is six years younger, it's true, but she looked a lot more natural and healthy, IMHO.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

You think she's had surgery? Idk, she still has wrinkles and stuff. I thought she had just aged remarkably. I'll be disappointed to learn it's surgery.

Edit: yeah the screenshot here certainly looks different than the main picture on her wiki. Maybe it is just filters and such?

Looks better than ever.
