Caligula is... weird but admirable? Has Malcolm McDowell starred in anything even remotely good except A Clockwork Orange?

I mean, he was an excellent villain in Tank Girl...

Time After Time is a rip-roarin' good time, McDowell plays HG Wells, who uses his time machine to go to San Francisco in the late-70s, in pursuit of Jack The Ripper (the always excellent David Warner)!

Some people say O Lucky! Man is a very good film, but I haven't seen it yet, and the three hours runtime sounds a bit daunting.

Then both Cat People and Blue Thunder are fine films. But it does seem that after the early 80s, most of his roles are simple "paycheck jobs", not for any sort of artistic statement.
Which is a shame, as McDowell has always been a considerable screen talent and presence.

You mean that Star Wars, LoTR, Star Trek cross over?!

Jokes aside … man the memories!

The whole Wing Commander series was solid gold. They did well getting some well known actors in III and P2.

Privateer and Privateer 2 were my favourites, followed by the episodic one ~~that I forget the name of~~ Secret Ops.

Does Easy A count?

the production’s baroque sets (created at huge cost by production designer Danilo Donati)

Donati also did production design for the Flash Gordon movie, fwiw.

I've always wondered if there was a decent movie hiding in the absolute mess that was the original cut. Now we get to find out.

Tbh, the original is decent to me. Not great, but it's an enjoyable movie overall. I think there is a good-to-great movie in there, with a bit of better editing.

I mean, the core cast were really good, and that's half the fight for a good movie right there.
