I convinced my parent company like 10 years ago to stop the push to Silverlight. We were a .NET shop so it made certain sense and we were basically writing apps, but I had to tell them that MS was killing it and it was better to stick to web apps.

Just go to your favorite pirate site and download a DRM free copy. You already paid for a copy that microsoft just took away your ability to play.

Absolutely, DRM is bullshit. Even Apple stopped using it - and not just for iTunes but also for streaming downloads.
