...are...are people using these browser extensions on purpose?

[–] TheImpressiveX@lemm.ee 22 points 10 months ago

I can't help but notice how many extensions have some form of "(Chat)GPT" in the name.

Do you have coworkers/relatives/friends? They're using them.

As much as I shouldn't be at this point I'm always amazed at what shows up in the router logs at work, or when someone hands me their phone. People routinely hand me their phone then go to get coffee. They stay logged in to everything all the time. WiFi, Bluetooth always on everywhere.

Seriously? Link the extensions author!

Which "Reader Mode"? There are a billion, of which I used only 1.

Edit to be helpful vs just complain:

Extension list, including dates of detection/removal. It's larger than above and growing.

Great so now dumbass "cyber security" teams at businesses will insist on banning extensions

First they came for our Firefoxes, and no one said anything.

Then they came for our USB sticks

And now our Ublock Origins and Dark Mode Readers

Bunch of AI stuff on Chrome. Like you’re trying to pick the worst stuff you can.
