Summary

Meta announced the termination of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, including hiring practices and supplier diversity initiatives.

Internal DEI teams and equity training programs will be disbanded, despite Meta's earlier achievements in boosting representation.

The move follows Meta's recent alignment with Donald Trump, including a $1M donation to his inauguration.

Critics link this decision to growing right-wing backlash against DEI efforts. Similar rollbacks have occurred at companies like Walmart and Ford.

You may have wondered are these companies actually inclusive, or are they just faking it for PR points. Well now you know. Meta is doing whatever it takes to maximize profits.

People actually thought companies were legitimately being inclusive?

A few rare ones are... all the others learned that it's cheap PR from their example and faked it.

Don't want to be the target of incoming nazi party?

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Yeah I suppose. I guess I did nazi that perspective. I figured money was the most important Anne Frankly I didn't consider other factors.

I thought the DEI programs were to create division amongst employees, so they were less inclined to unionize.

Edit: This is why Amazon does it, at least http://www.cpreview.org/articles/2023/4/how-amazon-combated-worker-solidarity-with-racial-conflict
