So ... Badgey is coming back right? The show just created their own Q that they can do whatever they want with right?
I would be surprised if that's the last we see of Badgey, though pleasantly so.
Having Badgey appear to save Rutherford and the other Lower Deckers in a key moment as some sort of literal deus ex machina seems very likely.
On the other hand, by having Rutherford keep the Goodgey program, it does seem as though there is plenty of opportunity for Jack McBrayer to continue to make guest appearances on the show, without having to scream about ripping off peoples' skin, and I fully support that.
Personally, I think the most interesting thing they could do is tie Badgey's decision to an empty dimension and create a new universe into the extra-galactic synths we learned the existence of in season one of PIC, with no follow-up on. That's absolutely not going to happen, though.

As someone who is quite happy to defend PIC S1, I can't help myself ... is this the best or at least most interesting lore contribution new Trek has made (however much you dislike the execution, I'm talking at a conceptual level)?
Personally I think the existence of the extra-galactic synths is the least interesting thing they could have done to wrap that season up, followed only by Picard dying and instantly coming back to life before any characters even have time to process his death.

The theory I saw floating around that I really liked while season one was still airing was that it would have been revealed that the Romulans were actually organic synthetics created by the Vulcans, who rebelled and escaped, and then erased the memory of that fact, with only the Zhat Vash aware of the truth, and working to make sure no one else learned it, because of what that could potentially mean for Romulan society.
However, Michael Chabon and Akiva Goldsman didn't call me up for my opinion before the fact, and we're stuck with what we've got. So, no, I don't think the extra-galactic synths are particularly interesting, but they could be. However, at this point I'm certain we're never going to see any follow-up on them, except for in some novel someone eventually writes, which will have some elements almost immediately contradicted by canon material.
Well ... what's better from new Trek lore wise?
I'm happy to throw in the Zhat Vash, the special beacon planet and the whole romulan thing too with the contribution.
As far as the Romulans go, I really like the concept of the Qowat Milat. Also the expansion of Romulan culture to the point where we learned a surprising amount about their gods was neat.
I think Jurati's Borg have some interesting implications, and I'm very curious to know what the deal with that transwarp conduit at the end of season two of PIC is. Of course, we're never going to get a real follow-up on that.
And that's just from PIC, a series that I think is hands down the worst overall series of Trek.
I think the mycelial network is extremely interesting, and wish Disco would do more with some of the implications introduced in season one. The 10-C from season four are also very intriguing.
LDecks has been surprising about expanding on the cultures of various species, like the Pakleds, and the Orions. It also introduced the idea of the support fleet. And while I don't generally like it when death is something of a revolving door, I do think the idea of the Black Mountain is more interesting than the extra-galactic synths.
The thing is, we don't know much of anything about the EGS, right? They left the admonition as a warning to other synthetics, and when they show up, they're a bunch of metal tentacle arms. There's not really much to go on there. I would like for it to be expanded upon to, for lack of a better term, justify the inclusion in Trek lore, but when they showed up, I can't say I was anything other than disappointed.
I like the idea of the mycelial network at its most basic core concept, but it's execution or delivery in Disco S1 is literally what killed that show for me. I started a rewatch of Disco S1, in the spirit of confirming my theory that nu-Trek peaks in the first seasons (because, I'd guess, it's produced more like a Trek film than Trek TV show) ... and I couldn't get past the episode (3 or 4?) when all the details of the mycelial thing drop. Doing it in a prequel also did not help for me and I'm still not sure the way they've "prevented" it from showing up later in-unverse holds up at all.
Romulan stuff was cool I agree. Jurati borg too (after TNG, the only borg ideas that were compelling I'd say were sort of borg adjacent phenomena as occurred in Voyager a couple of times). The Trans-warp conduit seems to me a lesser version of the EGS though ... combining Jurati Borg with EGS and getting them to interact or something could be an interesting sci-fi arc.
There's also potential to run into the extra-dimensional photonic beings from "Bride of Chaotica"
I'm expecting him to eventually become Bill Cypher.

Yeah, it's completely nonsensical without the context of the episode.
But they made Badgey blue and had him go off to create his own universe. For me, they might as well have given Mariner a Rorschach mask.
