President Trump on Wednesday settled a lawsuit that will require Meta to pay about $25 million, most of which will fund a presidential library, multiple outlets reportedand a source familiar confirmed to Axios.

Why it matters: Meta shut down Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts for about two years after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. However, since Trump's reelection, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has cozied up to the new administration.

This is a really neat way to directly bribe a government official

Spread those ascheeks, zucky boy.

You won't feel a thing.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

This is pocket change for him. I don't think there's much spreading going on.

How the fuck? A private company closed an account on their own server, within full compliance of their own terms and regulations, and somehow he can sue and profit from it?

[–] Bronzebeard@lemm.ee 60 points 22 hours ago

It's a bribe disguised as a settlement.

Zuckerborg praised Trump in an earnings call according to an article saw on here.

So the guy paid the nonsense fine and praised the leader after.

Pay the bribe and kiss the ring.

Ive wondered if zuck was doing tons of illegal stuff, and a small subsection of that was aimed at trump, and trump came to know about it somehow.

And trump probably has plenty to throw him in jail, and zuck is begging for forgivenesa and he'll never do it again.

Thats my personal guess because even meta's opportunity to be successful doesnt line up with the amount of ass kissing going on. Its weird.

"The Donald Trump Library"

....it should just be comic books, porn magazines, and Nazi propaganda.

FTFY

Too much reading involved in comics.

Just Nazi propaganda.

Trump doesn't deserve porn.

Comics are far too gay friendly

I'm not a lawyer but does this not set a precedent for others in the same predicament to follow?

It doesn't set any binding legal precedent, but it does send a message that has similar practical effects.

Ring-kissing sycophantry

Fun fact, when you have $1T, $1M feels like what $100 feels like if you earn $100k

[–] Tja@programming.dev 5 points 12 hours ago

Wrong. It would be like 10 cents for someone who has 100k.
