They have:

- Anthony Edwards

- KAT

- Goubert

+ a bunch of good rol guys.

I may be missing something but to me this level of talent should be top 5-6 in the west.

The team has a lot of talented players. The problems is the pieces haven't exactly fit together. Basketball is a team game after all

Cuz unlike their domesticated counterpart whom evolved from them, the dog, wolves are not easily tamed. Dogs are more docile and friendly and therefore better suited for working.

The anti-feral bias is this sub is unbelievable.

[–] jarenjacksonsr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They will! Just need time on the court. Towns was injured last year and ant is growing.

The switch from towns to ant being top boy this year will make it work. Roles together becoming defined!

Other teams have better players. Gobert isn’t the same one man defense, Kat is talented but defensively is lacking, and is talented but still young. Combine all that and they’re not a perfect combo yet. Still will probably win 43 games or so

[–] A-Confused-Comet@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think they do work, they just didn't get that chance last season with KAT out and facing Denver in round 1

If all core players play 60ish games this season, Wolves should be 6th seed or above in my opinion

[–] HesGotSpots@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

And Naz and Jaden missed that series. Two of their top 7 players

[–] ThatDumbTurtle@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Last season, injuries and overall health. The team never was in a good spot and didn’t get time to develop chemistry on the court. They’ve looked quite good in preseason, I hope it carries into the regular season too.

[–] Hypnosix@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Just looking at last season, they have a better fit at pg now, a second lockdown 3&D guy in NAW and healthy KAT to start the season. If they have average health they should be above the play in tourny

[–] Noriskhook3@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Gobert is not that guy, simple as that. It’s no different from the Utah Jazz 2018-2022 except the jazz had high expectations but they were overrated.

[–] FlipAnd1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Wolves never knew how to play him like the jazz did.

[–] Noriskhook3@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The jazz never was that great to begin with

KAT thinks he's a leader on and off the court, who has changed the game. In reality, he can't stay on the court when it matters, acts like a toddler when things don't go his way and hasn't accomplished shit.

ANT is the only chance they have, and he's gonna be good enough to lead them to success. Perhaps even this season, but it won't work as long as KAT thinks he's the man in Minnesota.

[–] XthaNext@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good thing KAT has said nothing to suggest he thinks that

[–] Wes_119@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

no championship experience

[–] therealknic21@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Because they're still holding onto KAT after all these years, and he just isn't that guy, but the Wolves are paying him like he is.

[–] Ablefarus@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

KAT missed half of the year, they were figuring out stuff and when everything finally fell into place before playoffs, Naz and McDaniels went down with injuries. Still, even Nuggets said that they were the hardest opponent they faced in playoffs. This year, if they stay relatively healthy, I don't see them finishing bellow 4th seed.

[–] Worluvus@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

kat missed half a year do you guys watch basketball

[–] FlipAnd1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Kats not a likable dude…

[–] DontShootToMiss@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Do you? They were 27-26 without him and 15-14 with him. They’re a .500 by all accounts.

[–] charlesfluidsmith@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He wasn't back up to speed.

Seeing how he....missed half a year.

I don't think that is a fair comparison.

[–] DontShootToMiss@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don’t think it’s fair to just assume they’re a good team. That front court fit is still very awkward.

[–] charlesfluidsmith@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I haven't asked you to make that assumption.

I said we have to allow them a fair chance to find out.

And as for being a poor fit, I don't really see how. Kat is as stretchy as a 4 can get, and Gobert is mired in the paint.

That doesn't seem to be a bad combination.

[–] DontShootToMiss@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They’re a bad combination on defence because KAT is too slow to defend the perimeter

[–] charlesfluidsmith@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You have no idea.

Maybe so.

But to say that definitively is nonsense.

[–] DontShootToMiss@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well we certainly have some idea lol. KAT is a great offensive player but he’s never been that good of a defender and he’s now defending out of position. It’s perfectly reasonable to say they won’t fit defensively until proven otherwise, just like it’s reasonable for you to say that they will fit offensively. Not sure how it’s fair for you to make assumptions but not me.

[–] charlesfluidsmith@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How is he out of position?

What 4 cant he guard?

He is an apathetic defender. I grant that.

But physically, there is no 4 that he can't guard.

[–] archerarcher0@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You don’t know that they don’t work at this point

[–] nikop@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Who says they "don't work"? They're a playoff team with room to grow, which is more than can be said about half the league.

[–] HowlAtTheSky@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

KAT missed 50+ games last year… and this season hasn’t started so I’m not sure how you know they don’t work

[–] pollinium@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

5-0 in the preseason. Some people may point to the level of competition, but that has historically been our weakness 😎

[–] GattacaCalisthenics@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

KAT and Goubert soft

[–] EastlakeMGM@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

5-0 preseason, season haven’t started yet.

[–] Skolcialism@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The reigning nba champions said the wolves were their toughest series

[–] billtopia@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Am I crazy, or weren’t the Wolves right in the thick of it competing for the 4th seed last year until injuries and illness derailed them? And that’s with KAT missing half the season. Not saying that they will for sure make it work, but can we at least start the regular season before claiming them dead in the water.

[–] boeboehm@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

3 games back from the four seed

Only team besides the top two seeds with an above 500 record against above 500 teams

The double bigs thing may end up failing but the wolves were not far from hosting a playoff series with our best player missing 50 games

[–] larrylegend33goat@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Narrator: it aint gonna fail

[–] DidiGreglorius@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Two centers hasn’t worked in the NBA in like a decade. End of story.

[–] deemerritt@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Season starts next week why dont you watch them and see if they do or dont work

[–] Kesman90@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Imo they should move Kat... Twin tower system very rarely works, they would be better off with an elite wing player or a PG

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Who says they don't? The season hasn't begun.

[–] bloodmuffins793@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Because KAT ain’t that dude. Edwards and Gobert can’t win with that KAT.

[–] Street-Common-4023@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Injuries, season hasn’t started yet and give them time !

[–] SlugLyf3@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Well the season hasn't started yet... maybe they will be top 5 or 6 In the west

[–] photacos@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

‘Goubert’ made me laugh for some reason
