  1. Somebody other than Anthony Lamb — and presumably somebody better than Lamb — will get the 1,195 minutes he played last season.
  1. Kuminga probably won’t merely be a rotation piece, he could be a difference-maker this season.
  1. The Warriors will miss Poole’s offensive firepower and durability, but they can get more than that from Paul and others.
  1. Paul is good for the Warriors, even if his arrival complicates Kerr’s starting and closing lineup decisions.
  1. They should be a lot better on the road than they were last season. They have to be.

I think they can be title contenders but I don’t agree with these as the reasons.

[–] MC-Jdf@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Looking back it's genuinely insane that Lamb got that many minutes only for Kerr to basically DNP him the entire playoffs lmao.

I’m sorry Chris Paul isn’t going to be giving this team 20 points a game.

[–] Nillafrost@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

But I think he will be able to score 10 ppg, with maybe 8 ass, and few TO, which is better for this team. Poole gave an inefficient 20 with hardly any assist and lots of TO. A net win for the dubs I think

The number one reason is expecting their #1 ranked starting lineup to play more than 28 of 82 games.

27 games together isn’t that little. Bucks played 25, Celtics played 35 (if you count White as a starter and not Rob Williams where they played 10). Grizzlies played 11. Clippers played 13. All these teams had a better record.

The Warriors issue was their bench (which all the above teams had), and when Wiggins and obviously Curry missed time, they had terrible depth to make up for it.

Looney and Poole gave them 82, Draymond played 73, Klay played 69, which is relatively healthy.

The issue is Curry is so much better than their number 2 so whenever he doesn’t play the Warriors are just bad, and a bad bench. Bad regular season combo.

I think the second point was solved this season. I'm a real believer their bench will be significantly better this season. I'm not a believer in them holding up without Steph however, so hopefully he doesn't get hurt again. He's had a lot of flukey injuries, not necessarily concerning injuries in terms of his body breaking down.

  1. Full season from Wiggins.
  2. Fit GP2
  3. Good big men on the bench
  4. Kuminga playing more.
  5. Klay playing less.

  1. Klay playing less.

Dang, so its really come to that

[–] YouIsNotHim@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The only one of these I agree with is Kuminga

If 38 year old Chris Paul is 2 of 5 bullet points here that is not a good sign lol

Do you think Chris Paul was close to as good as LeBron last year?

[–] tyler1118@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Man it's crazy how we're entering a new era. I can't believe KD and Steph are both 35. CP3 and LeBron are both 38. It's so sad. :(

[–] feelnoways2020@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It is when your last backup point guard averaged more turnovers in the second quarter than anyone else in the nba and was a traffic cone defensively

[–] BossButterBoobs@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They should be a lot better on the road than they were last season. They have to be.

Wow. Great reasoning.

I have a reason why they won't be title contenders this year. It's because i'm not feeling it.

[–] Parenegade@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is like reading the title of a thesis and then saying "I can't believe he didn't explain it. What a joke!"

[–] tondolliver31@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think they can be great but I'm not sure how they beat the Nuggets

[–] Parenegade@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Steph Curry.

[–] nikop@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Is this a real article? lmao what the fuck happened to the athletic already?

[–] StefonDiggsHS@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
  1. Steph Curry

And that’s it

[–] Street-Common-4023@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t think they beat the nuggets or suns maybe but honestly we just have to see how this season plays out

[–] ImTheBestNerd@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Got a European Big, can’t win without these guys

[–] schuuin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nobody wants this outside of that Metropolitan area. The parity era is here and interest is at an all-time apex.

[–] DownWithFlairs@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Five reasons tim kawakami is pretty cringe

[–] snyder810@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
  1. They still have Curry
  2. Maybe Wiggins doesn’t sit out most of the season
  3. Poole, DiVincenzo, & Moody were all terrible against LA in the playoffs. Wouldn’t take much to have improvement over that from their 6-7 guys in a series.
  4. Other teams guys could get injured.
  5. They still have Curry.

The warriors and lakers are both contenders but they’re not not good enough to be able to play anyone and have an advantage.

Lakers have bad guard defense so a team like the Suns especially are going to roast them

Warriors problem is kind of the same as always, kind of weak in the paint, so Denver and the Lakers are going to be a headache for them

Both teams if they can avoid the bad match ups are definitely capable but I don’t think they’re in that like prohibitive favourite spot

Long as both teams stay healthy they have curry and Lebron and AD so they always have a chance but they have some bad match ups for sure
