Kyrie is the ideal guy next to Luka. Brunson is good, and might be a better first option guy, but I don’t think he is good enough to be the second best guy and win a chip. We already know Kyrie can do it. He just needs to not be dramatic and stay healthy. Couple of big “ifs” for sure. Kyrie also plays sneaky good defence when it’s a big game or in the playoffs.
Kyrie is so good next to a guy like Luka because he can play so well with minimal touches. He can dance better than anyone, but he is also super efficient off ball.
Kyrie in a Cleveland type role with no drama is probably the ideal 2nd option. Add in the other pieces the mavs have and it’s much better than the mavs with brunson
Chet is also doing this on a team that will almost definitely be in the playoffs, and could make the second round. I think that is likely their ceiling this year. But it’s also different than Wemby putting up numbers on a bottom tier team.
I think pre-injury Derrick Rose wouldn’t have a shot at MVP. He would still be good, but without a reliable jumper or 3-point shot it would be tough for him to be MVP calibre
So many? I can think of 3 haha. Lebron, KD, Steph. Dame is 33, so he isn’t really old enough. Kawhi is showing his age pretty hard. He plays well, but it’s only sustainable for short bursts. Jimmy ain’t giving you 30 ppg through the regular season like these other guys either. As much as he rocks through the playoffs he is only super good for like two months a year. So 3 guys
But I think he will be able to score 10 ppg, with maybe 8 ass, and few TO, which is better for this team. Poole gave an inefficient 20 with hardly any assist and lots of TO. A net win for the dubs I think
