I just had a conversation where someone was convinced that Scottie Pippen was better than Dame Lillard and I was not so easily convinced. How do you guys feel? I feel like yes pippen was a better 2 way player, but dame was significantly better offensively and was the main option on his team. I've seen pippen without jordan.... and....

We talking about peak or longevity? 🤓

[–] prince___dakkar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

There’s a right answer and I don’t have to specify for everyone to know which I mean. That might say it all?

[–] n0th1ng10@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Dame is definitely better offensively.

[–] nikop@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Pippen easily. The guy won 6 titles as one of the best all-around players in the league. Kawhi vs Pippen is a much more interesting comparison

[–] Larry-Zoolander@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Kawhi leonard doenst even play.

[–] RandoCollision@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Pippen was a baller. The Bulls don't win 6 chips without him. People who consider him to be Jordan's sidekick don't realize that almost every other player would have also been second fiddle to Jordan.

[–] nikop@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Literally every player ever would've been second fiddle to Jordan

[–] itssensei@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nope, not every player. Jordan would be second fiddle to MyPlayer 😤

[–] Professional-Ant8445@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Bulls don't win 6 rings without him, but the Bulls also would have won 6 rings if you give MJ any other 90s all star instead of Pippen.

If you swap Pippen in Chicago with Alonzo Mourning in Charlotte for example. The Bulls probably still win 6 chips and the Pippen-led Hornets never make it out of the first round.

There’s nothing anyone can do to prove or disprove that statement

[–] crazier_horse@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You can say that about the statement that they wouldn’t have won without him too. It’s a hypothetical

[–] RandoCollision@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

And that's why talking about sports is fun. In a lot of debates, nobody is wrong.

[–] Balls_of_Adamanthium@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Healthy Kawhi easily clears Pippen. Career wise though it’s Pippen.

[–] SerialRapper@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You think Damian Lillard doesn't win 6 titles playing next to Michael Jordan?

[–] ColdCocking@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Every team in the history of the NBA would get better by replacing Dame with Scottie. It's a no brainer.

[–] DrixxYBoat@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Dame is perpetually the most underrated superstar I've ever seen. These comments man...

[–] Tight_Ad3092@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I mean, Scottie was a mvp candidate without MJ 🤷‍♂️. Took his team to the ECF and almost won it. All star type scorer with HoF lvl defense. It’s Scottie, easily

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He lost in game 7 of the 2nd round

Why is this "almost won the ECF" misinfo getting upvoted?

Might as well say Embiid almost lead his team to the Finals last year

[–] Tight_Ad3092@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

My bad, mixed up his Portland year and that year. Regardless, he was a mvp candidate that year without Jordan.

[–] Cypher3470@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Bulls dont win as much with dame instead of pippen.. I truly believe this and I love lillard.

[–] crazier_horse@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

More about fit than anything. Pippen is a better #2, Dame is probably a better #1

[–] Visible_Indication36@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I watched every single Bulls game of both 3 peats growing up and I don’t think it’s so clear cut. I honestly think Dame takes it one on one. Pip might make his team better overall, but I probably give it to Dame one on one. And I love Pippen and hate Lilliard.

[–] Oh_No_Jason@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The thing is that NBA basketball is a team sport so your actual answer is Pip

[–] Hange11037@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Pippen might be the best perimeter defender in league history though. And there’s zero chance Dame is stopping Pippen from driving to the basket and dunking.

[–] Visible_Indication36@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, this is probably the reality of it, just had to think about it more.

Ask Madonna.

[–] Poop2nitebathenever@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Acting like pippen will be anymore than a 6th man while lillard will be the best point guard on most rosters in the Nba

[–] bradperry2435@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Pippen would start on any team in the nba right now.

[–] super_sayanything@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Pippen would be the best player on most teams in the NBA right now.

[–] Used2befunNowOld@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You from Portland? This isn’t even close. Scottie in 4.

[–] Larry-Zoolander@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

nah i'm a laker fan. born and raised. i'm just shocked considering pippen hasn't done anything as a number 1 option an dame has had pretty shitty teams around him. Cj was his side kick lets face it, CJ is term of all time players is ass. He's like... around Antoine Walker?

[–] Beef2k8@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Dame for the vibes win. Scottie brings the drama

[–] Jordanwolf98@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] Air4021@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Dame's points are replaceable, but the intangibles and win-first mentality that Scottie brought was irreplaceable. Run the offense, anchor the defense, guard the toughest player, step up defensively and change the game by knowing what the opponent was doing. Step up rebounding. Make shots when MJ was in a rut. He affected the game and the Bulls success in so many ways.

[–] FlashRodriguez@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I might be biased because he was still playing when I first started watching basketball, but I'm going to go with Scottie Pippen. I really enjoyed watching him play with Jordan and Dennis Rodman.

[–] getdown83@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

There is always gonna be guys that can put the ball in the basket. Pippen gives u all the things u can’t just find. He could do a little bit of everything and a very good level. Pippen is like the prototype for a second best player.

[–] No_External12@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He is better . Or was . Better player , better career , better legacy. Cmon man it's fn scottie pippen.
