You'll never tell me home/road ref bias isn't a thing a lot of the times lol

If this game is being played in KC they 100% throw the flag there

Despite all the negative attention he gets on here and in the media at times he's still easily one of the top offensive players in the league IMO

Hawks just need more size around him to compete at a higher level

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask?q=westbrook+ts%25+last+11+games

I think it's safe to say that after the Harden trade there's not much of a purpose for him on the Clippers anymore

I say "aside from Minnesota" because they're the one team that clearly matches up well against them even if they'd still be slight/moderate underdogs due to not having the best player in the series(important in the playoffs)

IMO we can discount the Blazers, Jazz, Spurs, and Grizzlies right off the bat because they're bad as well as the Clippers because they can't win against them to save their life

The Rockets beat them twice without Murray but I think it's safe to say they're not yet there in terms of being an actual threat in the playoffs

What about the other 8 teams though?

With all the talk about stats being higher than ever it's important to note that this is a fairly recent phenomenon, so much so that the over-30 group of active stars didn't benefit from it after leaving their physical prime

But what would their best seasons look like by 2023 statistical standards?

Let's start off with their actual numbers(relative TS% is how much their TS% above league average at the time):

PTS REB AST rTS%
2013 LeBron 26.8 8.0 7.3 +10.5%
2016 Steph 30.1 5.4 6.7 +12.8%
2014 KD 32.0 7.4 5.5 +9.4%

The league average TS% so far this season is 57.5%. From this, we can now assign TS% values to each player by current standards:

PTS REB AST TS%
2013 LeBron 26.8 8.0 7.3 68.0%
2016 Steph 30.1 5.4 6.7 70.3%
2014 KD 32.0 7.4 5.5 66.9%

Now, we have to adjust for pace. The pace in 2013 was 92.0, in 2014 was 93.9, and in 2016 was 95.8 compared to the 99.3 pace of today. Multiplying LeBron's volume stats by 99.3/92.0, KD's by 99.3/93.9, and Steph's by 99.3/95.8 gives our final totals:

PTS REB AST TS%
2013 LeBron 28.9 8.6 7.9 68.0%
2016 Steph 31.2 5.6 6.9 70.3%
2014 KD 33.8 7.8 5.8 66.9%

That's still easily a lottery team lol

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yup

He wasn't a worse player before 2023 just because he had Will Barton as his 2nd option lol

I'll just do the first round:

(1) Celtics 4-1 (8) Cavs

(2) Magic 3-4 (7) Heat

(3) Bucks 4-1 (6) Pacers

(4) 76ers 4-2 (5) Knicks

(1) Timberwolves 4-2 (8) Pelicans

(2) Nuggets 4-1 (7) Lakers

(3) Mavericks 2-4 (6) Kings

(4) Thunder 3-4 (5) Suns

Picked upset in Heat/Magic because obvious playoff experience reasons

Picked upset in Mavs/Kings because I don't trust the Mavs against any team with a good center

East:

(1) Celtics vs. (8) Cavs

(2) Magic vs. (7) Heat

(3) Bucks vs. (6) Pacers

(4) 76ers vs. (5) Knicks

West:

(1) Timberwolves vs. (8) Pelicans

(2) Nuggets vs. (7) Lakers

(3) Mavericks vs. (6) Kings

(4) Thunder vs. (5) Suns

Embiid definitely gets hate on r/nba and it's probably a bit over the top at times

However the fact that you knew it's about Embiid without mentioning his name just from the "27 free throws" part is objectively hilarious lol

Absolutely elite statpadding from Fox lol

Because Jokic has never done anything close to this to get them lol

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

At this point playing Jokic in Denver might as well be a scheduled loss lol

Playing Jokic in Denver might as well be just a scheduled loss at this point lol

I swear the quality of Sabonis's play is completely inversely proportional to the strength of opponent he's facing

Yes it's like that for everyone to an extent but he takes it to an extreme lol

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I'm not sure why the Suns kept putting him back in even after he limped off lol

It was clear they didn't actually think he could play at normal capacity given that the Raptors put OG on KD the whole time and still Booker never even tried to score in the clutch

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why is Booker in the game if he can't actually play right now with the hamstring lol

Raptors are putting OG on KD and still no touches for Booker

Detroit's train wreck of a season continues

Despite amazing scoring still, Steph's playmaking metrics have completely fallen through the floor this year so far

Not a great start for "The System" to say the least

I feel like we've all seen this one before lol

Paul George had a horrible game tonight to say the least
