The West is so stacked this year. Who do you think the worst team in the West will be? I think it’s the Pelicans, Blazers, or Rockets

Eh fuck you buddy

[–] Medium_Line3088@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The west isn't stacked anymore.

[–] CoachMorelandSmith@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes I agree that “stacked” isn’t the right adjective.

There’s a difference between being stacked and being competitive. The top teams in the west are not quite at the level of some of the juggernauts of the past, but there aren’t many pushovers either

[–] uglygoshh@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Definitely not the pelicans

I think they will make the playoffs. Wemby is a walking Top 3 defense, just like how Dame is a walking Top 5 offense.

If Pelicans stay somewhat healthy I can’t see them being the 15th team in the west

[–] Carne_Asada_Friez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They’re never healthy, in fact the season hasn’t started yet and they’re already the most injured team in the league.

[–] Good_NewsEveryone@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Under budget and ahead of schedule. Everyone jealous already

[–] iDestroyedYoMama@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Man a couple years ago they gave us a run for our money. I think Brandon Ingram is underrated. Jonas and Jose are excellent. They got some dudes. There is just the big pink Zion in the room.

[–] PossibleMechanic89@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s not even just Zion anymore. Everyone is hurt or injury prone. Every game I’m holding my breath.

[–] RTLT512@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Zion and BI missed a ton of games last year and they still ended up around .500

Yeah they would both have to miss the whole season and it be a CJ McCollum led team to end up last place.

[–] WondrousIdeals@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (6 children)

They were competing near the top of the west before Zion got injured. I thought (perhaps foolishly) that they'd be a 50 win team last season, and I think they really were with a little better injury luck. They're deep, have a youth movement, and have some top tier non-overlapping star power

They are a playoff team of Zion plays 60+

the pels will be terrible if TM3 and zion are both injured for a decent part of the season, but if the team is mostly healthy, they can easily be a top 4 team.

[–] TheFinalEvent9797@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They only had Zion for 29 games and Ingram for 45 games and still went 42-40, they'd have to lose both of them for the season + CJ to be near the bottom of the conference imo.

[–] cesarjulius@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

don’t underestimate how important murphy3 is for them. his absence will be felt.

Blazers, Rockets, Jazz are the ones that are likely the worst.

[–] 2020IsANightmare@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

No. It's not.

The West is "stacked" like it was last season. Where no one knew what the fuck any team would deliver.

Unlike last year, there's a clear favorite (DEN.) But, they were the BIGGEST reason the West was unpredictable last season. Because no one knew if they could get it done when it matters. They answered that question.

Anyway, I don't know how the Pelicans got added to your question. If Zion is remotely healthy (60 games) then they are a playoff team.

The Blazers and Rockets have shit rosters. A god-awful team added Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. Surely that will have the same impact as Bron and Bosh joining Miami.

The Blazers sucked really bad last year. Replacing Dame with a rookie PG and adding a center that a win-now team openly didn't want for two seasons must make them a contender now!

The good thing about being a stacked conference is that every game is important. Every win is important

[–] Carne_Asada_Friez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Blazers. Scoot will be good eventually, but young rookies are almost always inefficient and below average compared to NBA starting caliber players. Grant and Brogdon will be gone by the trade deadline.

Their future looks bright, but they’re gonna be bad this year.

[–] RunninOnMT@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Yup. Blazers have potential to not suck this year (lots of talent) but I think the front office and coaching will make sure that doesn’t happen.

I actually think the lakers could be a bottom 6 team.

I think the Jazz and Blazers will finish below the Rockets and Spurs in the standings. I think the Clippers or Pelicans will end up being the other team that misses the play-in, but it'll come down to whichever playoff-level team struggles the most with injuries throughout the year.

[–] doctorweiwei@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (7 children)

Spurs. Wemby stays under 1400 minutes and there just isn’t enough remaining talent to do much.

Also Jazz as a rarely-mentioned sleeper. They started hot last year, but still seem like a Lauri-injury away from bottoming out

[–] xElectricRainx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You clearly don’t watch spurs games then if you think they’ll be the worst or close to it.

Warriors will be 2 seed

[–] Bush_orchestrated911@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

How do you have the Twolves, Grizzlies and Kings over the Warriors and Suns? Are you talking regular season seeding only?

[–] TheDuceman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Gotta be. Resting is part of the titles, so they’re saying “warriors and suns will be resting and load managing throughout the year, they’ll be there come playoff time though”

[–] SubduedChaos@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Probably. One thing I have learned over the last few years is that playoff Lebron and Steph aren’t a joke. That’s when they actually try. Until they retire, they will be a threat in the playoffs. Doesn’t matter if they are bottom seed, as long as they make it to the playoffs, they have a decent chance.

Blazers have a good shot at being worst, but I'm still excited to watch the young talent develop.

[–] ParticularBuddo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The balance (imbalance) is back! The eastvwould still manage to win championships, but the East would always have one or two good teams and the west would have 10

Idk what you talking about, DominAyton is about to lead us to the Western Conference Finals this year! You can't prove he won't! It'll happen, this year is our year. Scoot is about to average 32 and win ROY. Blazers definitely going to lead the west and have home court advantage throughout the playoffs.

[–] JasonPlattMusic34@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Portland or Utah. I’m not buying what the Jazz did a year ago, I don’t think Lauri will be quite as ridiculous as he was last year and John Collins isn’t taking you from lottery to playoffs. Portland is rebuilding so it makes sense that they’d be down there. Pelicans will be a playoff team if everyone is healthy and will be a play-in team if they aren’t, and Houston made too many additions for them to be the absolute worst.

[–] SuckaFreeRIP@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Pelicans were the 1/2 seed last year without BI and only Zion. If those two stay healthy we are talking about a top 6 team. No need to put them into this question

[–] DoughNutSack@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mavericks, Jazz, Rockets and Spurs

Could easily add in the spurs and blazers. I don’t think rockets would be the worst

[–] allaboutthatpace@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

We are gonna be 15th, but I think we will be better than most 15th seeds are historically. I think we might win at a low 30s pace until Brogdon (and maybe more vets) are traded, then our lack of quality on our deep bench will be exposed. Could also see us shut down any vets the last two weeks if there is any lottery seeding at stakes.

[–] AlexeinM@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

99% of predictions gave the Dallas Mavericks as 11 seed or lower, expectations are as low as they could be

[–] Zeeron1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Idk but whoever it is, they'd probably be at least the 8th seed in the east

[–] TreeBeard8891@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s us…blazers are the easy pick here. First year of rebuild with possibly a lot of vets getting shipped out( expect Grants and Brogdon at the very least gone by deadline)

Chauncey as coach really ceils the deal even if the youngsters are slightly ahead of schedule. Chauncey is spectacular at getting losses
