During Korver's all-star season with the Hawks, he shot an insane 49.2% on 6 attempts per game over 75 games. Similarly, Redick shot 47.5% on 5.6 attempts per over 75 games and Joe Harris' 20-21 shot 47.5% on 6.4 attempts over 69 games.

Other seasons to consider:

Novak 11-12: 47.2%, 5.2 attempts despite only 19 minutes per game, 54 games

Duncan Robinson 19-20: 44.6% on 8.3 attempts over 73 games

Kapono 06-07: 51.4% on 3.1 attempts, 67 games

Kennard 22-23: 49.4% on 4.6 attempts, 59 games with two teams

Buddy 22-23: 42.5% on 8.5 attempts over 80 games

Nash 07-08: 47%, 4.7 attempts, 81 games

Joe Johnson 04-05: 47.8% on 4.5 attempts, all 82 games

Klay 14-15: 44%, 7.1 attempts, 77 games

Ray Allen 01-02: 43.4%, 7.7 attempts, 69 games

Reggie Miller 96-97: 42.7%, 6.6 attempts, 81 games

Kerr 89-90: 50.7%, 1.8 attempts, 21 mpg, 78 games

Lillard 19-20: 40.1%, 10.2 attempts per game, 66 games

Harden 18-19: 36.8% on a ridiculous 13.2 attempts over 78 games. Only season ever with 1000+ attempts, pacing Curry's 15-16 by 142 attempts

Eric Gordon 14-15: 44.8% on 5.2 attempts over 61 games

Larry Birds numbers are better than Stephs by the metrics. Each of their best years. Facts

Shout out to they guys who got to shoot on the shortened 3pt line.

Lillard in 2020 easily.

40% on 10 three point attempts per game. Hitting every type of shot imaginable(off the dribble, catch and shoot, deep threes, etc)

To this day, only Curry and Lillard have done 40% on 10 3PA per game iirc

Lillard is kind of a weird one. His percentages have never been too outrageously awesome when they are just listed as a 3-point attempt, but you pull up his shot chart and see he’s doing it on extremely difficult shots.

This is how I feel about Trae Young and why I think LaMelo is going to blow people away this year.

[–] rawchess@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Klay last year shot a higher percentage on more attempts. 2020 Duncan Robinson shot 4.5% higher on only 2 fewer attempts. Sure Dame has the difficulty argument but I wouldn't say "easily".

Klay just shot 41% on 10 3pa as well

If you're going to put guys like Kapono and Kerr on here, then Tim Legler's 1995-96 season deserves a mention as well. He shot 52% from three on 3.2 attempts a game and played 77 games that season.

Doesnt make sense to count those mid-90s years though

[–] idontknow_whatever@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Shortened line though, even MJ posted a 3pt shooting season near 43% that same season lol

It’s harden by miles lol

Kyle Korver's 53.6% from 3 season is pretty silly

[–] SaltyTraeYoungStan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Only like 2 attempts a game though.

[–] weems13@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah and only 18 mpg over 51 games

A couple shoutouts to guys who had standout volume/efficiency for the era:

2003-04 Peja Stojakovic. At the time, for the standard 3pt line (not shortened like '95-'97), his 240 3s made was the most in a season and 43.3% was barely behind the Ray Allen season mentioned in the OP for highest 3P% with 200+ made. And he put up that career-high efficiency while being thrust into the #1 scorer role due to Webber's injury.

1988-89 Dale Ellis. He wasn't the only player to surpass the previous 3pm record that year, but it took Michael Adams nearly 130 more attempts to make only 4 more. Ellis shot 47.8% from downtown on just over 4 attempts per game while putting up a career high 27.5ppg.

And just a little fun fact: In 1983-84, Darrell Griffith made 91 3s for the Jazz. No other team in the league made 80+.

[–] BoopasaurusRex_____@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The idea of a player scoring almost 28ppg, hitting almost 48% from 3, yet only taking FOUR 3pointers a game is so wild to me

[–] stopreadingmyname-@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Damn, so JJohnson was actually a baller. We got taught in economics that D-Will and JJ were fraudsters.

[–] Lost_Employer_4148@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Korver at his peak was like a role player with superstar gravity because the dude just didn’t want to miss. To be fair though he was a great player.

On the last run with Lebron he was legit the second best player on the team arguably but he ran out of gas in the last series.

[–] 33birdboy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Bird won 3 consecutive 3pt contests while talking shit to everyone...86 87 88 Mvp, finals MVP, 3pt champion all in the same year 86

[–] weems13@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah I should've included him. It's tough factoring players from that era but 41.4% on 3.1 attempts per game in the 80s is pretty damn good

[–] RandomStranger79@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Kyle Korver once shot 53% for a season.

[–] weems13@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah on the lowest volume of his career though (2.1 per game, 4.2 per 36) and only played 18 mpg over 52 games

[–] Poop2nitebathenever@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jason kapono actually gave me tips on how to shoot back when I was 9/10,I went to one of those things that some heat players an coaches train kids an shit. I swear it’s like he almost never missed a shot when he was shooting in front of us, crazy how good nba shooters are

[–] defiantcross@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

you GOTTA include 02-03 Bruce Bowen who infamouslyshot better % from 3 than FT.

[–] rubthemtogether@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Charles Barkley, 96-97. 3.9 attempts per game, despite only shooting 28.3%
