It’s true. If you don’t want to get hurt, play less aggressively. But still play.
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
Charles Barkley, who played 80 games 3 times, 82 once, and under 70 3 times. If he'd taken games off, he wouldn't have been hurt as much as he was and miss more games from injury than these players who have rest days
It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams. It's not the players it's the teams ..
Repeat 5000 times or however long it takes to get it through your thick skulls that teams are trying to put themselves in the best position for a postseason run.
I want to see Shaq to the Milkcrate challenge
If I pay someone $50 million to play basketball four days a week, there is no way I send them out there to play 100 games in 230 days (like Tatum did the year before this and this includes 6 rest games) on bum knees, I’m not going to risk my assets like this. I won’t risk it if I plan with them come playoff time and especially not if I’m committed to pay them the same money for the upcoming years.
That’s the issue at heart of the topic and Charles knows this, if he isn’t in the process of appealing to fans. He played 80 or more games in just 3 out of his 16 seasons. Charles after turning 30, played 65, 68, 71, 53, 68, 42, 20, games. If you like people you got to love chuck, but this is complaining about 3 point shooters while being historically the single worst high volume 3 point shooter all over again. Chuck had “rest” games.
Based as hell
So true.
Load management is such a damn hoax. Sitting players does nothing.
If people really give a shit about keeping athletes healthy long-term they need to stop looking at the NBA and look at youth basketball. The AAU grind means kids are coming into college and then NBA with an insane amount of wear and tear on their bodies.
Not to mention kids specializing in basketball only rather than playing a variety of sports, which leads to the same ligaments and body parts getting overworked extra hard.
Dudes in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s used to play 70-80 games no problem. Injuries weren't more prevalent than they are today. That's because players back then hadn't destroyed their bodies at a young age by routinely getting up at 7 am for their next AAU game to get highlights for their Ballislife mixtapes. Shit's wild.
Preach, brother Charles. Preach.
Chucks in mid season form love it
I think it’s simple. The players became entitled and lazy. This is what happens when you go all soft and let the players run the business.
,,I ,,,,
Chuck who doesn't know what's happening in the NBA even though it's his job is complaining about other people not doing their job to his standards? I wish fans would actually criticize Chuck like he criticizes players
Yeah, just because they let you in the house, you still have to know your place ....
right Maasa?
Did he really say shut up n dribble???
It’s ok when he says it
100%, these players today are too entitled and spoiled
I fuckin hate Bradley Beal for his load management bullshit
What if you make $29M?? Can you waive the option to shut up and play?
So he’s sayin “shut up and jam?”
Did max players themselves lead this charge? They did not go on strike. This is the agreed upon amount for their services based on the CBA.
The amount is extreme, yes but it’s not like the top players in the league went on strike and forced the owners to agree to this deal at gunpoint.
I’m never going to fault a a worker for not sacrificing his future health at their own detriment to benefit the owne and fans. The NBA could have taken steps to lower the number of games as well as eliminating back to backs, their response? An in game season tournament lol
The players arent making this call. The owners are.
Love Chuck. There seem to be two things happening here that I'm not sure I agree with. The first is a reduction of a worker to someone who, as long as they are getting paid, needs to just shut up and take it, get back to work, and just be thankful. The more you make, apparently, the more you have to put up with whatever pays you the money. It's a shut-up-and-dribble mentality for professional athletes, entertainers, etc. I'm not sure that's the route this world is headed in or a healthy one at that. Second, there's a point of diminishing returns for Harden. How much more money can he need if he's worth 165 million? He gets paid singles for the strip bars and owns a wine company. The dude is set. I can see if he isn't feeling motivated by another 20 million or whatever to play for a team whose GM genuinely disrespected him, in his opinion. He can get 20 million somewhere else, if not this season, next, and the one after. If he hates it in Phili because of those reasons, and he has enough $ and can earn a ton more regardless of what happens this season, why would he care? Lastly, I hope they make a decision so we can get on with our season and maybe get a draft pick or two.
I agree 100 percent I don’t care about your political views or what you believe in I only tune in to watch you play basketball.
Chucks heart is on the right spot. He knows what the fan want. Although being so honest about these topics I doubt he'll be seen much longer on TV because TNT could get more into trouble by honest Chuck than FCC Chuck for having funny brain farts (although Shaq always got Chucks back).
I will always be pro-player but this is one of those things that sends me. You secured the bag, start enjoying the game more.
Not really fair to destroy their future bodies to potentially win a few more regular season games. As long as the star players are on the court during playoffs pushing for a chip….. that’s the main goal for most players at least. This is their job and IK most of y’all would be pissed if you had to risk potentially career-ending injuries for meaningless projects at work. They just happen to have an expensive set of skills to perform their job and should be protected
Who invited my blud Dracula/Adam Silver there
It doesn’t help that the NBA moves closer to the WWE everyday. Why am I going to fight for home court advantage when I know the NBA is almost always going to guarantee it’s 1-1 heading to the other teams place? Guarantee the series goes at least 6 and then anything can happen? The players know things are skewed for extended series and favorable match ups that make the most money so they aren’t going to bust their ass taking it too seriously in the regular season.
LOOKING AT YOU BRADLEY BEAL
charles barkley clearly risked in his fantasy draft this year
Hockey fans are ruining this thread and I also can't believe we're still blaming the players for load management
In front of Adam Silver is nuts 😂
Sleeping in chambers!
The league has more athletes that are just in it for the money. Can't fault them, I'd do the same if I had the chance lol.
But still. The players with a passion for the game is certainly outnumbered by the ones that just treat the game as a cash machine.
