This is not just tonight's game, it stems back to the 20-21 season after the Lakers won the championship. We know he is inconsistent but why?

  • Are teams guarding him in specific ways?

  • Does he have weaknesses offensively that teams exploit?

  • Is he slow? This can definitely make guarding a bit easier if you're not as mobile.

We know what he's capable of so it is mind-boggling how up and down he can be. He's not a #1, but that doesn't mean you play like a #3 every other game.

It’s called CSR. We now focus on sustainability more than productivity

He's not a ball handler and he's not confident of the dribble so he has to be setup. He also doesn't command the ball

The guy is made of glass

In genZ language, he is not HIM.

He's a pussy.

His demoralized trying to carry dlos bag..playing so hard to have Dlo constantly end a momentum offensive and allow the other team to get back up 12 in a blink. You can see on Brons face too like broo get this gut out the game!!

You can’t be the best offensive and defensive player at the same time

He is not him

no one besides lebron or rondo have been able to feed him

Westbrook had a consistent game with AD. Especially when LeBron sat or was injured.

At the end of the day, he’s just inconsistent. He’s simply not at the apex of elite basketball players.

He’s a big guy

He needs time to recover

Old man

Jump shot taking a nose dive has made him easier to defend. He has never been an outstanding perimeter shooter but he's worse now and more reluctant. That makes him a little more limited as an offensive threat and easier to neutralize.

He playing the 5 vs the 4 does make a difference...he doesn't have the size advantage compared to most of his matchups these days and gets pushed off spots by bigger centers. But ultimately u/NbaKOLeWorld is also right...AD isn't a creator. He's the ultimate play finisher with solid post up/face up ability. Lakers guard play was poor tonight and the Nuggets did a very good job taking away the roll. Lakers guard play was horrible. That's the biggest causation of what happened tonight.

AD isn't always the most naturally aggressive and that is a factor too.

No legit playmaking pg. The league lucked out Kyrie wasn’t traded to the Lakers. That duo plus Lebron would’ve been straight nasty.

He's still bulkier than he was before the Lakers chip. His D is better now, but his scoring is considerably worse. Playing the 5 more and no longer being in his early 20s also means he has to be a lot more careful. He's a top 15 player, but not the top 10 superstar AD we saw in NOLA and that first Lakers year

[–] sneedmode@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He’s a lob threat on a team with 1 legit playmaker.

Put him in Boston, GSW, Nuggets and he’d be the top scorer on the team again.

Because the lakers don't know how to fucking use AD. He's a play finisher not a playmaker, you can't give him the ball in the post every single time. Dude it's so infuriating to watch I feel like I'm taking crazy pills with all the people saying "AD needs to take over", it's not his game to ISO for 36 minutes. You need to give him a steady diet of pick and roll, off ball screens, slip screens, dribble handoffs, getting him the ball in good spots instead of giving him the ball in the block and having him shoot spot up 3s. And I know what you're saying, he's averaged 25 plus playing this way. Yes, because he's extremely talented and will find ways to score no matter what, but if you keep spoon feeding him in the post 24, he's gonna play inconsistently cause it's not his game to take tough ass contested midranges every play. The bubble had the lakers fooled as to what type of player AD is and they've been chasing that ever since instead of playing to his strengths as one of the best off ball players ever. I don't think alvin gentry was a good coach but at least he knew how to fucking use AD properly.

Ugh. So frustrating. End rant.

Westbrook unlocked AD

[–] 480AHole@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He is a fragile clown

[–] warablo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He basically needs the three ball dropping and the refs blowing their whistles.

[–] matthitsthetrails@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Spacing on the lakers isn’t good when there isn’t a guy on the court with him who can run p&r for him. Coach ham says he wants AD shooting 6+ 3s a game meaning he’s supposed to float on the perimeter? I dunno why you’d want that without another dominant post player on the floor

Trade his ass back to Pelicans 😂

[–] DerekMorganBAUxxi@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lakers aren’t built for him it’s a team built for a washed aging player that stopped playing defense

[–] CupOfHotTeaa@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Lakers gotta put the best lob finisher in nba history in more off ball cutter actions

[–] UltraSaiyanGoku@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe he just isn't what he was projected to be? He was drafted in 2012 and we're still asking questions. It's time to accept he's nothing more than an all star. A great 2nd or 3rs guy in the team. The furthest thing from. A leader, and as fragile as wet toilet paper. "Talent and height" have absolutely no weight in this debate anymore. It's time to accept AD for who he is.

He wants to be traded back to Pelicans
