He’ll have a Tommy John and turf toe by Christmas

Perfect center for this group. Can initiate high post offence and that helps without a true point guard.

Also can get dirty with rebounds and hustle plays. And the big thing is can punish mismatches down low every time; which will happen a lot with book Beal and durant

Eubanks looked solid too! Proud of the boys.

Nurk really from preseason has looked like the perfect fit in Phoenix....excellent roll man, smart passer in the roll, can facilitate a little at the key, sets screens, rebounds...he's a solid overall post defender. Nurk has consistently graded out as a good post defender and decent overall rim defender.

He used to be better before injuries. He's not the shot blocker he once was but he has solid positioning and he is so wide and strong, that he often can just by nature of his size be a force of nature around the rim and preventing easy baskets. He's an above average center, which I knew before tonight, and happy he proved tonight. His role is pretty simple which I believe is a great situation for him and one he can thrive in.

Nurk did the dirty work tonight and that's what will be expected of him this season. If he can remain healthy he should have a solid value season, someone who's a real contributor to the Suns' success.

Nurkic is actually a better fit because he doesn’t need touches. He just rebounds and defends and he knows that.

Healthy Nurkic is a good player. He just has been hurt like crazy.

Basically as a Blazers fan who is a big Nurk guy I kind of saw this coming. He's perfect for this team, his play making and passing coupled with his monster screens are tailor made for a team like PHX with all of the shooters flying around him. Also, the scorers on PHX have such gravity that it frees up a bit of space for Nurk to finish better around the basket (his biggest glaring weakness, for me) I also saw enough of his eurobasket games to say his 3pt shooting is real and it wouldn't surprise me if he was something like league average.

A brief little bit of caution I'll say to Suns fans is this; his finishing around the rim can be horrendous at times, he has these weird little bad of flip shots that need to go ASAP. He suffers from "foul momentum" he'll get a soft one and then he'll just...spiral. Also, if you're thinking "ah, he's large he might be able to slow down Jokic" Nurk was played off the floor by the Joker last time we saw him in the play offs (but he does that to basically everyone!)

However, for how he's being used he's perfect for this version of the Suns. I'd love to keep track of the screen assists because he was absolutely battering people out there.

As a big Nurk guy, I really hope he stays healthy and kicks some ass.

Ayton is more *talented*. Hes more *physically gifted*. And thats why its frusterating that hes not goddamned *better* than Nurkic or, in many stretches, the various backup bigs we played during his tenure.

Do you know how many times I said "Ayton would be unstoppable if he he had the fearless mentality of JaVale McGee? Or Richaun Holmes? Or Jock Londale?" and the list goes on and on and on.

And yes, backup bigs play fewer minutes and thats why they often play so hard. But still, man.

[–] Ziobot@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The different is Nurk actually trying to get rebound or contest for a rebound.

[–] maddogfarm@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

nurkic usually breaks down after 40-70 games, good luck with him in the playoffs

[–] guanogato@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

And you got people like Russillo and Simmons saying he’s terrible

[–] sean_buttcannon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Someone tell Phoenix fans they DONT have to shit on ayton. Guys. He’s gone. Enjoy your team and let him go. Half the comment here are “ayton wouldn’t have done x” like bruh let it go and enjoy your win.

[–] Qlix0504@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I will boo and shit talk that man for the rest of his career.

[–] PuzzleheadedWest0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dude will cook for PHX. He’ll %100 average a double double and have some crazy stat games.

[–] HoyaDestroya33@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nurkic should just address himself as Bosnian Beast. Fucking Ayton calling himself Dominayton

[–] junker359@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's been one game... check back mid-season.

[–] MITWestbrook@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I told y'all he would be a great fit. Better than Ayton. Brings the Euro toughness and can flop

[–] Blutz101@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Outplayed and out worked loondog.

[–] idontwantnoyes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He is everything you want out of a big. I always respected his game.

Never liked him because whenever he played my teams he played with a chip on his shoulder but always respected him.
