A warning and a small fine would be fair enough. I get people thinking it’s stupid to charge him, but hopefully it can act as a lesson to others

Fucking hell that's ridiculous. Getting banned from the stadium is understandable. Getting fucking charged? What a joke
To get banned from the stadiums you need a football banning order and for that to happen you need to be charged by the police it's really simple

I never understood people who take sports to this extreme. I’m a Manchester United fan but I would never wish harm upon the guys from City. I just want United to win. With any sport I like, if a player from the other team is hurt, my first thought is that I hope they’re ok.
I agree with the club banning him from the stadium but the police charging him seems pretty ridiculous
The only way for such a ban to become enforceable is with a football banning order and the only way for that to happen is for the police to charge him so that he can be given said football banning order.

Nobody was saying this about the fan with a '97' shirt getting nicked. It's a public order offence to sing 'tragedy chants' or have banners or symbols about the same. What a fucking horrible precedent to set. Utterly baffling. In no way shape or form do I condone the chanting of someone who’s dead, but my God this makes virtually no sense.
