Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Fetterman is the poster child for why the US should allow "recall" elections.

At least for Congress-critters that are, for whatever reason, not the same person that was originally elected.

🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

[–] Armok_the_bunny@lemmy.world 46 points 4 months ago (1 children)

See, I'd have said George Santos is the poster child for that.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Can we agree that despite how shitty he is, his actual attempt at being a politician is legitimately hysterical?

Like I think Andy Kaufman has haunted his soul just to troll American politics.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 29 points 4 months ago (4 children)

There should really be a way for a party or it's base to initiate a recall election. We've had some recent cases of Republicans trying to recall Democrats. It should be for "buyers remorse" and not "we want a do-over".

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 months ago

Honestly there should be both. Just make the trigger for the general recall an exceptionally high bar.

There was one that was more egregious. I don't remember her name, but this one formally announced that she changed sides after winning. To my knowledge, Johnny boy still calls himself a Democrat.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

She took decades to change though. This dude did it in one term.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 52 points 4 months ago

Deal with it? You mean, like, primary you and the 9 other simps who voted for this bill? Okay. That's good advice, thanks Fetterman.

[–] gndagreborn@lemmy.world 33 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Goes to show you what stroke does to a MF

[–] civil_drive@sh.itjust.works 32 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Brain damage leads to conservatism. We have a shit ton of brain damaged idiots here in the US.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Lead, and microplastics will do that to a MF

[–] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 27 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Aaaaand the mask comes off

[–] Sirus@lemm.ee 13 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Can't they recall him for brain damage ?

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Theres no way for the US to recall federal representatives. Some states allow recalls of state level reps, but none of the federal ones can be recalled legally.

That's like most of geriatric congress.

[–] NimdaQA@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Fetterman is your standard anti-worker neo-liberal.

[–] NimdaQA@lemmy.world 26 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Fetterman also wanted to defund United Nations Relief and Works Agency, defended a certain Brian Thompson, referred to the hush-money case against Trump as “bullshit“, said that Democrats need to stop 'freaking out' over everything Trump does, and said that he would ‘fully support’ U.S. troops in Gaza.

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 7 points 4 months ago

Sounds like a mole

[–] Triasha@lemmy.world 25 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Calling it now, Fetterman is going to switch parties.

Maybe not soon, but someday.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 16 points 4 months ago

He already did long ago

He just hasn't announced it yet because like this he's more useful for the Republicans

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

He barely needs to at this point.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 16 points 4 months ago

I hope she will

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 4 months ago

Sounds exactly like what he said after he threatened a jogging black man with a shotgun.

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 4 months ago

Same advice to the victims in the most recent (as of this minute, anyway) mass shooting. 3 dead in NM.

Deal with it.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 11 points 4 months ago

Disappointment has a shape, and it's John Fetterman.

[–] LonstedBrowryBased@lemm.ee 11 points 4 months ago

Fuck that guy

[–] derry@midwest.social 10 points 4 months ago

Don't forget he met a head of state while wearing a hoodie and no one batted an eye. And shorts! Proud to be an American! /s

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Ahh, this coming from a guy with the spine of a jellyfish.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 9 points 4 months ago

Your terms are acceptable.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

Get started primarying this asshole right now.

[–] TemplaerDude@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago

I hope this piece of shit is happy knowing he'll be a single term scumbag.

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 months ago

Couldn’t he be removed from his job due to clear and severe mental health issues and complications following his CVA?

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 4 months ago

Man, he really doesn't care if he's going to get reelected. Because he sure isn't, unless maybe if he runs as a Republican.
