[–] jaomile@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I assume you are from USA, which was once a colony and then once freed, has done the same?

[–] MostLikelyLyin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Who hasn’t tried that?

[–] vrkhfkb@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I feel like American’s views of Europe and Europe in actuality are much different

[–] lastpagan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Absolutely, but there’s always the good and the bad. It’s not all bad like Reddit would have you believe, similarly to how America isn’t all school shooting and police crushing windpipes.

[–] chf_gang@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah I’m from belgium and I really don’t think europeans are as cultured and classy as americans like to think they are. If anything I’ve found americans are more cultured and open-minded

[–] SmokimNoah@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

To an extent he’s right. But also is where you are in the USA

I live in Europe but went to university in DC, I’ve lived in NYC for a long time, and I honestly think people in DC/Northern VA know more about other cultures than the average European.. but they don’t speak more languages. And people from NYC are more accepting of different people (probably because it’s so diverse)

In Spain, The Netherlands, and England (the places I’ve been) I definitely don’t feel like they are any smarter/more knowledgeable than Americans lol. But I think I’ve only lived in very educated parts of the US. Here in Spain we don’t know shit about other cultures lol.

[–] Dennis_enzo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Main thing is that Europeans know that 'Europe' doesn't exist as a culture. It's a landmass and a political entity, nothing else. No one here considers themself to be 'European', you identify with your country. Anything that anyone says about 'Europe' is going to be wrong for a bunch of countries.

[–] RealPrinceJay@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, but pop has a lot of experience and he’s objectively correct in terms of travel and speaking languages lol

They travel 80 miles and are in a new country. I do that and I’m still 5 hours from Florida

[–] matzan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I travel 80 miles and im either in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium or Luxemburg. I'd rather be in Florida.

[–] DanteThonSimmons@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That's not an excuse to be ignorant of other cultures, though. I live in Australia, which is the same size as USA. I could drive for thousands of kilometres and still not reach the next state.... and (being an island) it's literally impossible for me to drive to another country. In Australia, we learn about other cultures and world history from a very young age.

When I became an adult, I worked hard so I could travel the world and explore other cultures. Distance is no excuse. I've travelled from Australia to all over Europe, Asia, North America, and the Pacific Islands.

[–] sunsbr@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Europeans are racist af just like americans. Especially from eastern europe.

[–] IronLad420@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Spain and Portugal raped and pillaged central and south america. They are so cultured to the point where the decided to destroy other cultures because they didn't want others to have their own religions, languages, and cultures. If you think Americans did the native Americans bad, you wouldn't be able to imagine the atrocities Spain and Portugal committed.

[–] staymelooo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe 40 years ago. Europe is a horrible mess now for many reasons, which I won’t get into

[–] mug3n@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pop signs endorsement deal with some French wine company next week

[–] kingkongkeom@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lucky bastard!

I will take an American over a million Europeans on any day!!! And I grew up in Europe:)

[–] DangleCellySave@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Holy shit i didn’t realize how soft Americans were lmao

Aren’t you guys the country that popularized the term snowflake..? Don’t you guys make fun of every other country in the world for being worse? and you guys can’t take an obvious tongue and cheek joke?

Reddit moment, go outside please

[–] Hakeem_aguri187@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You’re asking for people to go outside is the most hilarious thing ever.

[–] HussellCrowe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yo I've been to all four disney parks in Florida and I took Spanish in high school. What is more cultured than that pop

[–] NDPhilly1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

[–] twelvyy29@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Am from Europa can confirm that I indeed speak a language

[–] Random___Burner@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, they’re more civil than the US, that’s why they’ve started 2 World Wars and several genocides.

[–] Like_a_Charo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Frenchman here.

With all my huge respect to Pop, he’s mostly wrong.

[–] 1chromosomeTOOmuch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I personally believe, that US Americans are unable to travel as much, because some people out there in your nation don't have maps.

[–] Dutchofclass@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes thank you pop for that generalising comment..we are 1 people without nations, regions, dialects and different histories and cultures...uuuughh

[–] PatNewbie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Pop is being entirely serious here lol? Why’s everyone so triggered

[–] VersatileButter@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a woke villain. I refuse to see the humor in this, I want blood.

[–] OkBuddyErennary@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] stupidchair7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

In before this thread gets closed. Never thought I would see it on NBA 💀

[–] stupidchair7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That quote and this pic is perfect.

[–] NotNeon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

America bad upvotes please

[–] SevenHunnet3Hi5s@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

asians and africans don’t travel as much either so i guess they’re uncultured too lol

Pop being a boomer Euro-simp is the least surprising development of the 21st century

[–] SlavaRapTarantino@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Pop always remains a total jackass.
