Victor is a puro San Antonian who only acknowledges pan dulce

Alright, I can explain since I'm french. He definitely knows what's a churro because we have it in France too.

But the way he said "churro" in english sounds very different than how we say it in French (same word but different pronounciation) and Wemby got confused.

Yeah I was gonna say I’ve eaten them over there

[–] HamlnHand@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm French and I can tell you it's pronounced "broussard"

It's always funny that when they talk to a international rising star they always find out how to say something in their language.

Nice jerk from Chuck

Wemby’s new nickname: the long donut

[–] curryone@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He just needed to say its a spanish donut, Wemby would surely know it from that

Its funny that churros are so synonymous with San Antonio but as someone who is from here I don't see many people eating them or even places that sell them.

It's the same for us Belgians and waffles. Only kids and tourists eat waffles. Haven't had one in 5 years or something. Fries, beer and chocolate on the other hand...

[–] bronet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well the waffles are at least Belgian

[–] mankls3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I never knew they were supposed to be synonymous

[–] thepobv@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I actually see a ton here in NYC

[–] D_Cowboys_County@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Should be the breakfast taco city

[–] TsarOfSaturn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I've never heard of churros being synonymous with San Antonio. I figured churros are just everywhere if you're anywhere near the border. I just moved to Phoenix, and they're definitely all over the place here. Parking lots, golf carts, random corner lots. Damn near every restaurant has them

[–] Tommy_Wisseau_burner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean it’s been a decade of Chuck clowning San Antonio. They had enough time to become a churro city

[–] Booglington@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I suppose you never seen no big ol’ women out there neither, right?

[–] RealGertle627@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I had a couple at the pulga last month. I had never seen caramel ones, but tbh they weren't as good as the regular

[–] NoDiceThisAintOver@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This man is about to get flooded with churros

[–] morron88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is the first time I've heard Wemby speak. His English is superb: barely an accent, uses colloquialisms.

[–] photacos@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If chuck didn’t say Cherro instead of churro I’m sure Wemby wouldn’t have been so confused haha. The way he saying it sounds like a compound word

[–] Fladap28@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“They got them big ole woman down in santonio”

Shaq trying his best not to laugh out loud lmao

[–] republicansarewhores@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Aside from getting a great player. Having a star caliber player on San Antonio means we will get more chuck talking about San Antonio. Which idk why it took me so long to realize that would happen.

You know it was hard for Chuck to not ask about them big ole women, went for the next thing.

[–] coronanona@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The thing about french is if you pronouce it even slightly wrong they won't understand wtf you're saying

[–] zamiboy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There are some damn good churros down there though...

[–] ToinouAngel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Charles said "chooro", which, as a French, I can understand Wemby's confusion. First, we always "chichi" or "churros", plural. Second, Charles' pronunciation made it quite unclear what he meant.

But I can assure you that Wemby knows what churros are. They are everywhere at county fairs and everyone has had them at least once in their life.

[–] MGuedes007@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thing is that in a lot of european countries is exactly the same name. It's "churro", but the only thing that changes is probably the pronunciation

[–] therealthor83@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

how big is that coffee mug shaq has on the table wow

[–] tsarnie1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is the NBA content I desire.
