If anyone thought McDaniels was going to take a team to the next-level, they might have just been mistaken thinking it was "McDaniel" and just assumed it was the same person.

[–] Slimjuggalo2002@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He did, it was just the next level down.

[–] RamDEF7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He did the same to the Broncos but at least we got Von Miller, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker out of it.

[–] Verdant_Gymnosperm@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

We got jimmy g :D

[–] Naly_D@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Number of times a player was lost to a team as the result of a fax mishap:

Josh McDaniels: 0
Denver Broncos: 1

Possibly the only metric McDaniels is ahead of the Broncos on

An r/nfl Piano Fingerbang? This truly is a special moment.

[–] clarkthagod@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Finger banged

[–] Thorlolita@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Going to be a spicy job for someone to take. Still have Adams and Jacobs. Will be able to draft a QB too.

[–] CowboyLaw@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly, though: is it really? In the last 20 years, from purely a team management perspective, is there any debate that the Raiders have been one of worst 5 teams in the league? Consistently, for two decades?

If YOU were an up-and-coming OC or DC on a winning, playoff-competitive team (because that's, by and large, who is interviewing for HC jobs), would YOU trust your future to this team ownership? Is there literally ANYTHING that this team has consistently done well (again, from a management perspective) that would suggest to you that going there would be a WISE decision for you?

In the last 20 years, what has been the BEST outcome for ANY Raiders HC, in terms of both on-field and off-field outcomes? Is there ANY former Raiders HC who is currently an HC in the NFL? Currently even an OC/DC?

Raiders FANS are fantastic. (In general....) They've put up with more outright abuse and neglect from their team than just about anyone over the last 20 years. But the C suite of that team is about as radioactive as any franchise in the league, and there's no reason to think that's going to change.

[–] davisionary1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

To be fair, the raiders have been an embarrassment for 20 years...though this somehow takes the cake honestly.

🎹☝️💥

[–] GabryLv@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Same thing as the broncos 2009 and 2010

Fuck Josh McDaniels it’s unbelievable that he made that same mistakes 12 years after the first stint he had in Denver

He may have set back the franchise the same way he set the broncos back in 2010

[–] ManBearBroski@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Did Raiders fans at any point think McDaniels was going to be a great coach?

[–] fkn_clownshoes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

mangled quote from the movie Moneyball: “if we try to play like the Patriots in here, we will lose to the Patriots out there.” And the Patriots fucking suck without Tom Brady, so insult to injury.

We have a good team, but didn’t have a good coaching staff to take advantage of the ability of our players. instead, they were trying to fit them into a scheme that cuts against the grain. do we have a fast thinking qb like Brady that was an de facto OC? no. we had Jimmy Glass that would say 2+2=5. Do we have a Gronkowski like TE for the offense? no.

We have a good receiving core that Jimmy couldn’t throw too, a prime rb that the opposing team would zero in on cause we can’t throw and therefor play action isn’t a threat, and a decent defense, mostly thanks to Crosby, that has for the most part prevented blowouts.

The fkn 49ers, Chiefs, and Eagles coaching staff know how to tailor make the game play/calls according to the players they have. we were trying to play the game of checkers when we have chess pieces.

I think every Raider fan was fkn bummed by the initial McDaniel hire, and even more bummed to see how everything played out how we thought it would cause ‘maybe we’ll win’ has been our mantra for decades

Wait Fingerbang is here too, that’s tough Raiders fans this guy is a menace to Florida CFB teams.

[–] NoMoneyNoTears@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Raiders were an embarrassment before McDaniels

[–] Triingtolivee@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Josh McDaniels follows in Matt Patricia’s footprints. Who knew!

[–] sickostrich244@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

First off the Raiders for like the last 20 years have consistently been dysfunctional... the Derek Carr years brought them up to being a pretty mediocre fringe playoff appearance team at best along with a few bad years but for as bad as a head coach McDaniels is, the Raiders ownership is a big issue as to why they cannot get to being a Super Bowl contender.

But also yeah, McDaniels is pretty bad and set them back amongst all that talent he was given. The vibes were especially bad and the decisions were very questionable... the Raiders ownership cannot keep repeating these mistakes with their hires, it's more embarrassing

[–] GorillaGlueWookie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Did anyone believe he would take them to the next level? Like anyone at all ?

They were already an embarrassment

[–] steakfarts@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I know news and hyperbole go hand and hand, but the raiders have been more of an embarrassment than this. Mark Davis haircut is on the list, but previous raiders teams have been disastrous.

[–] SaltyAlters@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

But he didn't send racial slurs in emails. That's a step up.

[–] LilKaySigs@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He sure took them to the next level just not in the way you think

[–] LightningSack@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That’s very unfair, the raiders have been an embarrassment for well over a decade now

[–] Impressive-Cry-9128@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm not even sure if this was supposed to take seriously, but I just heard on the radio yesterday/last night, Josh McD went to a Halloween party dressed as Mark Davis. This contributed to him getting fired.

If anyone knows, is it complete malarkey or is there any chance it's true?

[–] vangc4@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Matt Patricia destroyed the Lions, and Josh destroyed the Raiders..

It's was all part of papa Bill's plan..

[–] dytele@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

And Brian Flores can’t get a head coaching job.

Old boys network is a joke.

[–] barc0debaby@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They were already an embarrassment.

[–] ReturnOfTheJurdski@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nobody thought McDaniels was taking the Raiders anywhere except into another coaching search in a year or two.

That’s not true.

They were already an embarrassment

[–] Saffuran@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If only there was some way to know McDaniels was fools gold before hiring him. If only we had seen him in a prior stint as a coach somewhere, perhaps. Maybe in the same division, even, so we could see really clearly even without glasses on.

[–] CoconutSpiderMonkey@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Previous Rams stint too- epic disaster

[–] bandopando@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Glad we gave him a glimmer of hope for it to be snatched away from him so soon

[–] Larkshade@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The raiders should hire Jim Harbaugh for the lulz.

[–] headsmanjaeger@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is one of those "well what did you expect?" moments

[–] ShadowCrusader98@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Who, in their right mind, thought Josh McDaniels was going to be the answer to fixing your team. I near laughed my ass off when they hired him and knew immediately it would fail.

Bisaccia was probably not the long term answer, but man he deserved a follow up season.

[–] Nuclearsunburn@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Didn’t specify a level up or down I guess, fair enough

[–] SlowReaction4@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Free Davante bruh

[–] baumer028@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tebow is rolling in his grave

[–] packofstraycats@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

How weird that a coach who wasn’t a good head coach before wasn’t a good head coach this time either. Maybe he’ll get it the third time!

[–] ric0n408@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Haven't they always been an embarrassment??

[–] BlurryGraph3810@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He got no time to get his job done.

"You were the chosen one! It was said you would destroy the other teams, not lose to them!"

[–] ID2negrosoriental@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

HBO decides at the last minute to make one more season of the hit series Succession. In season 5 there is an interesting plot twist, the Roy children are shocked to learn they have an illegitimate brother named Mark Davis-Roy who wears a bowl haircut and is actually even more of a fucked up loser than they are.

[–] VisionsOfClarity@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Almost everyone in the NFL is good at their job, except the owners lol

[–] girth_br00ks@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Made them"?

[–] coolmon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Should have kept Bisaccia.

[–] ionospherermutt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey, this is unfair to McDaniels. He didn’t make them an embarrassment. He just took an embarrassment and made them more of an embarrassment.

[–] Mysterious_Host1714@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Is anyone surprised ?
