This is what? 3rd or 4th time we've heard about this happening? Crazy.
Why would you do the via email and not an official letter? People see it as spam or it might be the wrong email adres. Fucking amateurs.
Because none of the people in charge know what they are doing.
There is one good thing about this, if email is now official means of primary government communication, that means it's a guaranteed right that has to be provided for free.
are you out of your mind? the only official channel of government communication is twitter (x)!
Only benefits for elderly people are done through Twitter, everyone else has to fax.

Of course sending this letter to an American citizen in the first place is bad to begin with.
Because this is who the American people voted for.
Because this is all from DOGE bs. They probably did a mail merge and said, “if you did nothing wrong.. ignore this email… but if you did, you got 7 days. Herp derp.”
We already knew Elon and Donald doesn’t know shit about the Federal Government since Day 1 and hired morons.

That's just it. Our highest government institutions are now almost entirely by rank dipshits who don't know how anything works. They're worse than amateurs. At least amateurs know enough to understand their own shortcomings.
If I received a message like this, I would buy a plane ticket to a safe country and would apply for asylum immediately, and I would use the letter as a basis for the asylum application. It seems like a really strong basis for the application.
Define safe here, the only places I can think are Australia or New Zealand. The rest of the world is heavily messed up and falling head over hills for right wing sirens.
Australian here, we aren't always fantastic either. NZ seems good, but they've had some weird shit going on from time to time as well. I'd probably go with them though.

The giant spiders are Australian. I mean, it's Australia, everything has two health bars. That said, there is a harmless but creepy-crawly-looking giant grasshopper-looking thing called a giant wētā that - like actual grasshoppers - likes to live in and lay its' eggs in people's backyards. Here, educate yourself!
If you hate bugs, I'd recommend heading to South America (make sure to check local political stability of each of the nations) and staying in a city, or heading to northern Canada and buying a tiny shack to ride this all out away from everyone else. Japan is a possibility but... fucking murder hornets. Literally in Tokyo suburbs.

Canada's doing ok. There's a 75% chance that the next prime minister will be liberal, but our conservatives are also less crazy than Trump. Most Canadians hate Trump right now, so both sides are pretty much required to oppose Trump.
The US might invade us, but that's true for a bunch of countries right now.
And hopefully we are all in agreement to vote ~smol pp~ into retirement.

What a weak response by officials. It may have been in error? They can’t even admit that they are terrorizing citizens?

Everybody is assuming that this is the result of this administration's virtuosic incompetence, but it is equally possible that these people have been specifically targeted. The last one was an immigration attorney, so that seemed to indicate they were harrassing someone who was opposing them. I wonder if they have some bizarre reason to target this woman.
Conceivably it is both. There's a Dr. Lisa Anderson on a list somewhere for some reason and the admin simply does not care if they sent the letter to the right person.
Similarly, when the ICE agents kick down her door, they won't care if she's the right person either.
"Fuck it, take her anyway."
That's essentially a real quote:

Well, considering the political climate I can't really argue with that.
The underlying unsaid context: "White American with White Name who never has been outside the country told to self-deport". Yes, WHITE AMERICA it could happen to YOU!
I lived in a travelers hostel with a lot of international people moving about on various visas. I think white people and majorities are more smug and comfortable than they should be right now. There was plenty of fuckery then, and we didn't even have the Jaffa cake monster in charge.
Don't assume they ain't coming for you. If you're not on their side, you're somewhere on the list.
