A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I’m thinking about updating from my older MacBook to an M2 Mac mini. I edit quite a bit of photos and do some video in premier pro and my MacBook Pro is really showing its age. Does anyone currently edit with any M2 based Mac and if so how has it been working for you?

My M1 16gb mac mini works very well for Lightroom and Capture One and DxO and Darktable.

It is perfectly fluid in all situations and I see no reason to upgrade it.

If you're transitioning from an Intel Mac, it's a substantial upgrade, and it's almost completely silent.

I upgraded from a mid-2014 MBP to the latest M2 MBP and it’s been great—though I haven’t done any video with it.

That said, people have done more with less.

I upgraded from a 2019 i7 macbook pro to an m2 mac studio. The difference is HUGE. The only negative thing is that I did not do the upgrade earlier.
