Please don't start with the pizzacake shit here, too 😭

Such a thin-skinned creator with weirdly obsessive fans. Everything about her online presence makes me uncomfortable.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

It's also just not good art. The style is extremely bland, and the humour just... Isn't humorous.

[–] iheartneopets@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I said it elsewhere, but they all feel like they've been AI generated, but made by a real person. They're wildly uninteresting to look at and painfully unfunny.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

Yeah, that's exactly the vibe I get.

[–] HighFructoseLowStand@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

Those weird little smiles she draws really freak me out.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

gonna be honest, I'd rather have not known about the drama. Separate the art from the artist.

[–] iheartneopets@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Weird to say that when the artist has made the art the key point in the drama. The 'art' kind of is the drama. Especially the debate on if roughly drawn comics that don't have punch lines even are art. The way I feel about them is as if they're AI slop, but done by a person. Most of them don't even make sense, but get so much attention.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

i still don't care about the drama.

[–] iheartneopets@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

Good for you I guess

[–] tias@discuss.tchncs.de -1 points 3 months ago

I know nothing about pizzacake but this particular comic strip is good

[–] gurnu@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Will I get sued if I say pizzacake comics are shit? Because that's what she was threatening to do to a subreddit

Please no vitriolic PCC here, her fans are so toxic

There is so much lore

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

Leftists are the only one trying to fix the boat. The liberal will say we must compromise with the shooter, and try to vote him out of the boat in four years.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

which they will immediately fail by trying to appeal to his cult that will never stop voting for him at the clear and undeniable cost of alienating their own voters. maybe a dick chaney endorsement!!

[–] FlyingSpaceCow@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

We need to stop using ambiguous terms like "leftist". It's way too broad and doesn't help anyone. I identify as liberal (also too broad), and I likely believe in 90% of the policies you advocate for.

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Liberals are reactionaries who wish to return to a previous status quo. Leftists wish to dismantle the existing systems, and establish a socialist system. Two goals in absolute opposition to each other.

[–] FlyingSpaceCow@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's not the definition of "liberal"

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

This should be good. Let’s hear your version.

[–] OldWoodFrame@lemm.ee -1 points 3 months ago

"Fixing the boat" implies they are successfully doing anything other than complain. Leftists are sitting in the boat yelling at the Liberal for not fixing the boat.

[–] Gibibit@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I don't understand the point of these paper-thin political comics. They don't make me laugh and they don't have a real message.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

People aren't sharing them because they find them funny, they do it to share their political views.

Without realising they're preaching to the choir.

[–] Gibibit@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I don't think a comic has to be funny per se. That's why I also pointed out it has no substance. But yes preaching to the choir is a good way to describe what's going on here as well.

[–] Xatolos@reddthat.com -1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Comics don't have to be funny, they can be used to show a message/point of view. A great example I can think of is "Maus".

And if you don't like/get the message, that's fine. To each their own.

[–] gurnu@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Pizzacake definitely isn't funny, nor are their political comics very sharp. Seems more like pandering their fanbase

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

It's not even satire at this point

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

can we not do this kind of low-effort slop on Lemmy too?

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Shouldn’t be too long before she finds out you can’t sue a lemmy community.

[–] RedIce25@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why does those type of people have such a distinctive ugly face?

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Pizzacake characters or right wingers?

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago (5 children)

I have some trauma because she rules /r/comics with an iron fistfull of mods protecting her from any criticism at all and got litigious about parody edits.

[–] Amanduh@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Just don't go to reddit, the only time I see her is when you weirdos post the slop here

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I don't anymore, should've used past tense.

Oh well she has her fans too here it seems.

[–] Amanduh@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I downvote wherever I see her stuff lol

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago
[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

C&D or actually filing suits?

Parody is explicitly excluded from copyright.

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago

IIRC she threatened to sue bonehurtingjuice moderators, but idk the specifics. BHJ mods caved.

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah she was very pro-reddit during the API protests too.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Surprising considering she tried to sue them.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

She might be a bit of a dramatic person

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)
[–] satans_methpipe@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Pizzacake comics are bad, but I'm not aware of the author drawing sexualized images of children like the reddit and Lemmy user SrGrafo does.

Holy shit I had no idea they did that. I was just referring her to how he also is in the "strangely gets to r/all daily" club

[–] AnotherHelldiver@jlai.lu 0 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Ah Pizzacakes comics are always so fun and entertaining to read.

Edit: wording

[–] satans_methpipe@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Watching the artist have a meltdown on reddit over snark edits was more fun.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

Popcorn tastes good

[–] lightsblinken@lemmy.world -1 points 3 months ago

you know, its flippant posts like this that remind me how easy it is to dismiss posters as people.

[–] dmention7@lemm.ee -1 points 3 months ago

Even more so, the mountains of salt from people who care way too much about a shitty webcomic.
