He ain't called "partially functional" Data.

[–] ClarkDoom@lemmy.world 43 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Because he’s fully functional.

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

AND ANATOMICALLY CORRECT

Guys... Data doesn't have nipples.

(I know it's Lore but they're identical, shut up!)

Edit: also check out them buns of polyalloy bioplast!

[–] EmergMemeHologram@startrek.website 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Maybe this is why Lore is so ornery.

[–] LimitedExpress@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is it the mandula oblongata?

lol .... these comments also got me to thinking of the whole 'made in God's image'

What if God was a deformed or deranged version of whatever species he/she/it is

What if we're all just perfect copies of an imperfect original?

I read something the other day about how christians will draw Adam and Eve with belly buttons..... Like, makes you think...

The ships computer, Eddie, becomes unable to accept new processing requests because it is running at full capacity after being told to make "Tea, with Data's breast milk" by William Riker.

Eddies in the space -time continuum...

Well what's he doing there then?

[–] Cylusthevirus@kbin.social 29 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I know it's a meme but there's an actual answer: because humans have them, and Dr. Soong wanted Data to feel human. That was the whole point of the project from what I understand.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Imagine if Dr. Soong wanted to have a bit of fun and place a third nipple on Data's body just to mess people who would see him naked.

[–] Odinkirk@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Then he has a perfect excuse to hunt down Section 31 agents while trying to establish control of a new clean energy source. And he won't be fooled by an agent pretending to be a statue. Also he can assemble and disassemble his golden phaser faster than most people can blink.

Damn, I wish I had the writing chops to run with this.

[–] lorez@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

And Dr Han Fastolfe...ehm Soong

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Four hours after the inquiry the computer is still lagging just trying to collect it all.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 year ago

Red Alert!!!! ... Computer is diverting power from life support! .... the warp core is failing and being drained of power ... lights and control panels all across the ship start flickering and become non functional

[–] IzzyData@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Computer. Please list all of Commander Riker's search queries.

[–] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean, I dunno, why does he have anything?
Why does he have a nose?

[–] nxdefiant@startrek.website 1 points 1 year ago

canonical answer? Vanity is practically a genetic trait of the Soongs.

[–] thecrotch@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

There's a mastadon account called "rikers search history" that addresses this question

[–] shiveyarbles@beehaw.org 7 points 1 year ago
