I stopped watching after a couple episodes. It feels like some fun commentary interspersed with Ellen's morning show, which is a drag.

[–] magnet598@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Football has generally been bad this year

[–] oregonianrager@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If it's a shit game. it is a shit game. I pick the Manning cast because I like the depth of football knowledge and the joshing between brothers.

[–] MyDogIsACoolCat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I want to hear people talk football. Not talk about pop culture shit during a football game. They need to keep it football related.

[–] JaegerVonCarstein@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They were a bigger draw when the MNF crew were bad. Now that it is Buck and Aikman, I haven’t tuned into the Manningcast.

[–] Nothardtocomeback@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’d watch it if it didn’t cost 15$ a month or whatever. Espn is not worth it.

[–] evil_iceburgh@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The guests need to either be very funny and know football or just know football. They don’t need to be players as long as they’re fans of the game who know what’s going on. Otherwise the show has become unwatchable during the guest segments where people are just pushing a product

[–] GreezyGrandDad@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That show is for a certain viewer

[–] suture224@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The ManningCast is basically a live stream. Maybe the NFL should stop trying to make it so interesting and just let the Manning Brothers just make commentary.

If you want to put in a guest, either put in an expert on the game or a complete idiot who will ask questions and prompt crazy reactions from the brothers.

[–] kamehamequads@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I heard it was great and tuned in for about 5 minutes. It wasn’t very entertaining

[–] ElLoboStrikes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Keep it former players of the teams that are playing if there must be guests. Active players of other teams too. There are only a hand full of guests that seemed kinda funny. I have found my self watching the manning cast highlights more and not the actual broadcast

[–] Soapbottles@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because it's boring. As UT fan I love Peyton but I can't watch the manningcast at all

[–] EifertGreenLazor@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The execs must of heard that Arnold was a huge football fan and didn't it was actually soccer.

[–] wawahero@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

While part of this is due to what theyve done with Manningcast, I gotta add that the NFL schedule isn't doing them many favors. Most of the games they've had have been boring, blowouts, or close matches between kinda bad teams. I bet they have to be asking why the league isn't flexing some of these hype 1pm est matches.

[–] im-not-a-robot-ok@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

i said in the first season the only way they could screw it up was to start packing it with a bunch of non-football related celebrities to pedal their lame products, and that's exactly what they did.

[–] Designer_Head_1024@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's either just the brothers or them and a current or retired football player. No more boring celebrity's

[–] juanzy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Damn near every comment is about the guests... am I the only one that can't stand the Mannings? Between their "aw sucks" personality, which in the wild I've damn near universally encountered from people covering up that they're an asshole and the stories over the years confirming that for the Mannings, how are they so popular?

Emmanuel Acho says has one idiotic take, and makes white people uncomfortable in his social commentary and he's public enemy #1. Meanwhile the Mannings are "lovable rascals!" despite seemingly being assholes.

[–] CreakingDoor@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I would watch the Mannings goof around and talk football with whatever guests they like join in and at least pretend like they’re watching the game too. Even if the guest is like that friend you invite over who doesn’t know but keeps dropping buzz words anyway

I would not watch the Mannings try to goof around and talk football, whilst the guest does media for their latest book/movie/song/whatever.

[–] FloridaPanther@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s almost impossible to find in Canada without pirating

[–] jrhudson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

okay after reading some comments here, wasn't aware that the show had like 1000 guest and just random people sometimes that have no football knowledge or anything that is interesting like that. Just have the 2 brothers talk shit to each other or talk about football. Real analysis between these 2 should be enough for most real football fans, theyre also funny AF.

[–] poopdaddy2@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’m sure their schedules make it incredibly hard to do this, but I think they would benefit greatly from being in the same room together. And as someone else said, limit the guests and try to get people with at least a medium amount of football knowledge.

[–] CaptainCubbers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Make a chat, make the cameras more like twitch, drop the guests

[–] sagittariisXII@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It would be nice if I could actually watch it. It should be streaming on espn+ or hulu

[–] D3ATHfromAB0V3x@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The only guests should be past or present NFL players and staff.

[–] TooKewlFerSkool@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Less celebrities more football ppl and in a perfect world they were in person in a studio together

[–] BabyYodaX@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I just want to hear the two of them talk.

[–] Infinispace@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I watched it once. Didn't find it particularly compelling. /shrug

[–] No-Lake-9920@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s because once you get down to the nitty gritty it’s a dumb idea. Joe buck was practically begging me to change the channel from him and troy and go listen to them. So it makes sense they are failing. They were begging trevor to stay and participate in boring forced conversations during a dead game. Not every game is going to have shit to talk about. Now they are trying it with college football and mcafee? It doesn’t work with two likable guys. Can’t imagine how bad it’s going to be with that douche. I watch football for the football

[–] donniebatman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It distracts too much from the game. They should focus on the game more.

[–] Mr7three2@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Noone wants to listen to these guys anymore. Peyton especially is not interesting anymore

[–] Irrationate@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I tuned in to hear football analysis and breakdowns by a HoFer and a future HoFer. Instead I see Peyton trying too hard for laughs, Eli sounding like a stroke victim and a guest who contributes nothing to the viewing experience. I was hoping for a better version of Romo when he started out and instead I get a sad comedy show.

[–] Slowhand8824@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The mannings are incredible. It's a shame they can't get guests on to talk about the game. Of course they're there for their plug but it should be about 90/10 of a split. Bringing on other players is a bit of a dud for me too because these guys have all been PRd to death they don't say anything. I don't need them to trash talk but it's like they're afraid to say simple things too

But it's still so fucking funny watching Peyton get worked up when teams mess up 2 minute drills

[–] HitMeUpGranny@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Put the brothers in the same room ffs

Their guests seem to forget there’s a football game being played.

I enjoyed Shannon Sharpe on there cause it felt like 3 guys just talking about football as it was happening

[–] a_fox_but_a_human@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If there is one thing I know, it’s that if there is a way to fuck up a good thing, the suits will find it. “Hey, people really like the Mannings doing football commentary. You know what will make it better? Vapid famous people selling their bullshit while we try to watch TV. It’ll make us billions! Sure it’ll kill the product but THE BILLIONS!!!”

[–] jomns@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why does anyone want to listen/watch talking heads when there's a game on?

[–] ready4wateva@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Personally speaking, I don't think active players should come on there during the regular season, even if on bye. Again, just my personal feeling.

[–] Slowest_Speed6@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Let's be real it's pretty hard to watch even when it's just the mannings

[–] radskorpion@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s at its best when it’s just them two talking about the game.

Stop with all the celeb bullshit unless it’s current / former NFL people.

[–] daveblankenship@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t like the interviews or Eli’s ‘comedy’ although I confess I stopped watching due to that a while back; maybe things have changed. I enjoyed it for the kind of in depth in game situational analysis that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Peyton is very articulate and comfortable; he’s a natural. Also, not afraid to be critical. I found that a lot of that analysis was getting short circuited by Eli’s peanut-butter mouth comments and stupid jokes and most of the guests were boring

[–] snoozeaddict@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’m a massive Peyton fan but I hate the manningcast I just want to watch the game.

[–] scobbysnacks1439@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The guests aren't usually very good and both Manning guys suck at interviewing. Most of the time it looks like they are frustrated that there is even a guest and almost ignore them.

[–] davewashere@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

There are too many people at ESPN/Disney who don't realize there are actually people out there who enjoy sports. Like, the actual sports games. Not the celebrity hype machine, the social media jarring, or single game parlay bonuses, but the organized competition between two teams wearing different uniforms.

The ManningCast is an interesting novelty when it's 2 brothers who have played a lot of football providing a commentary track for a football game. In the current format, it's the 2 worst talk show hosts of all-time doing a pandemic era Zoom production while a football game is played in the background. It doesn't help that the real MNF broadcast has a duo who have developed into excellent sportscasters. If I have a choice between listening to Peyton and Eli ask Martha Stewart for her favorite turkey roasting tips or listening to Buck and Aikman elevate a November MNF game to the point that I'm convinced it might decide who goes to the Super Bowl, I'm going with Buck and Aikman.

[–] anotheruim@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The production/audio always seems off, it may have gotten better but I can't stand that

[–] NicolasTylerDoyle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Guests should be every now and then

[–] victims_sanction@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Besides what others have said about guests (completely agree that they kill the vibe sometimes) i haven't even been able to watch it much as an ESPN+ watcher many times its only espn2.

Like, they were all in espn+ past years, no?

[–] Sandy_Pickle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I blame Eli and ESPN… they upgraded the main broadcast, bringing people to that one

[–] Beaustrodamus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They aren't very good interviewers and most of their guests are terrible choices. Honestly I think they should avoid bringing on non athletes most of the time.
