Inspired by that thread last week about stacking an entire team with elite offensive linemen and running for 3 yards every single play.

What other crackpot strategies would you like to see an NFL team try? I’ve got two…

1: A rugby-style offense that’s the polar opposite of the tush push. get your speedsters in a Flying V formation in the open field and let them lateral it to each other.

2: An offense that starts 2 mobile QBs (one lefty one righty) in shotgun every play. ball could get snapped to either one to run a somewhat normal offensive scheme, or just max out the gimmicks and do a bunch of flea-flicker, double-pass type stuff with the two guys back there

More hook and ladders.

It's not that gimmicky but I really want triple option to come back

I want to see more teams use running QBs in a jack-knife role more often, alongside a pocket passer QB on the field. Taysom Hill style unleashed.

Guys like Fields, Hurts, Allen, and Lamar can still be the QB1 on their teams, sure, but sometimes they lineup at RB or in the slot. I think it would add a massive wrinkle into the playbook that a lot of defenses wouldnt be ready for.

If you're down a TD, you just scored, there is 2:15 minutes remaining you have two timeouts, and you need a stop, go for the onside. You need a stop or it's over anyway so who cares where the ball is on the field? It drives me crazy how many coaches refuse to take the flier of an onside rather than wasting the kick into the endzone.

I would like to see the Chiefs run Pacheco up the middle on 3rd and 1. I realize this sounds like crazy talk. You're saying to yourself, "everyone knows you run a long developing play on 3rd and 1 and throw a 40 yard pass downfield", but hear me out....what if we just run the ball for 1-2 yards then get a new set of downs?

Oops all linemen is so funny in my head. As the defense, you'd have to either have DBs trying to play at the line of scrimmage, or watch your whole d line get gassed.

Every snap is a bunch of big boys sumo wrestling around a QB who is looking for a window to tuck and run. If your QB was basically an elite RB, any one blown play by the defense results in a TD because I promise you nobody could catch him.

Jerry Glanville's Run and Shoot offense is about due for a refresh.

I'm waiting on the day a team implements laterals in their offense.

Not really gimmicky but stop playing a time management second half when ahead. It drives me nuts when a team goes full throttle the first half on offense and gets ahead. Then they go into time management mode the second half and lose the game. The titans are bad about this.

To add to this you can still switch up the offense in the second half while still pushing the gas. A lot of teams when ahead stick to the same game plan the second half only for the opposing team to make changes at half to counter.

I would like to see the Bears try to implement "winning"

As a Chiefs fan, I'd like to see fewer gimmicky strategies.

Like my Madden strategy - just 4 verticals every play. The seam will be open!

I firmly believe that a team should always trade away it's first and second round picks for more picks or proven players. Missing on those first couple picks are devastating for teams, I feel. I think teams, analysts, scouts, everyone, are garbage at recognizing if a player will be even NFL caliber and a team should try to just eliminate this from being a possibility by selling picks if they can find buyers.

I just wanna see Fullbacks make a miraculous return

I want the Eagles to line up for the Tush Push and then the the defensive nose tackle to just lay down at the line of scrimmage, sort of like in soccer when they have that guy lay down behind the wall on free kicks. If the whole point of the Tush Push is to get as low as possible as a wedge, then a guy laying down means they can’t get that low and won’t get the push.

It’s just crazy enough to work!

Honest to God need someone who's actually willing to forego punting. Use all 4 downs damnit.

I think the Panthers should seriously consider just clipping the whole offense. Every time they get the ball back, just punt it to hell or try a field goal, depending on field position. The roster spots for the offense can be filled with a second defensive unit.

Eventually their offense will get tired and one of the defenses will get turnovers.

I’ve always thought a great play would be…

Qb roll way out, to the side line but as close to the line of scrimmage as he can, throw it backwards to an olineman who has dropped behind him, drifted towards the other sideline.

In theory the pass rush will be pulled towards the qb. The oline with the ball would have a wall of 4 in front of him taking on maybe one LB.

I think this would go for 50 yards or more.

I just want to see Aaron Donald get 25 carries as an RB and see what happens.
