Or quicksand for that matter, I was really expecting that to be a much bigger problem. Especially after reading all those Tintin comics.

I went up to my knee in quicksand last week.

Looked solid, nope.

(In the shaded part, under a bridge, on a supposed dry river bed.)

Exciting and a little scary.

When I was a child I saw a school mate get crushed by a falling piano.

True story.

Did he walk like an accordion after?

[–] Moonweedbaddegrasse@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He didn't do a lot of walking after tbf

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 2 points 1 week ago

I looooove that show! It's the best show nobody's watched. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen

[–] dxdydz@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes! It’s the greatest show I can’t talk anyone into watching. It and The Leftovers.

[–] LadyButterfly@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I couldn't get into the leftovers, I did try

Somebody really enjoyed the success of the quicksand tweet and was hoping for an encore

[–] Starbelliedboy@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Tweet? That was a John Mulaney joke from like 10 years ago.

[–] Vespair@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

And was probably said by various people before that too, whatever. The point is this is an obvious derivative.

New In Town came out in 2009, 16 years ago.

[–] titter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

To be fair we dont install them using a wooden crane or improvised winch to hoist them over public sidewalks as much these days either

I have never had to Stop, Drop, and Roll

And when the the time comes you will be ready.

Same reason I play dystopia games.

How many people have needed to pick up bricks from deep water in their pajamas?

[–] LadyButterfly@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

This happens to me at least 4 times a week.

About falling, burning pianos... here's a beautiful 2009 short film set to a 3min piece by Hauschka - Morgenrot.
