Bought mine for 330 euros.
Can be bought in the Netherlands for €305 including taxes. Despite that, I still opted for the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2’s
Not really, they feel great, they ‘re not audiophile grade but they sound pretty good and they can be used in noisy places thanks to the excellent ANC. I’d wait for Black Friday if I were you to be frank though (actually, I am waiting for Black Friday to buy either them or the XM4s lol)

I had the 3s and 4s, and now i have the 5s. They have all been excelent. I think the 4s sounded better, but the 5s are more comfortable for jogging and working out in.

quite good for travelling on the plane or train though.

Will it make it happy? Can i financially justify this? Will i use it often? Does it save me time or make me money?
If two are ok, then it’s fine purchase.
I might buy an expensive tool for the house but if it saves me a days work or more, then sure.
If i use my head phones daily and they make me happy, then the frequency alone is enough to justify it, even if the thing is expensive.

I just hope this generation won't crack like the previous 4 models... I have a MK1 and MK3 and they both cracked in the same place as many other people have. Obviously a design flaw that Sony pretends not to notice.

You're paying a premium for the active noise canceling. I don't have the XM5 in particular but from the reviews I've read its ANC is among the best. So if ANC is important to you it's a fine purchase

XM3 or XM4 on discount is much better price/performance.
Are these better than sennheiser 650s?
No. I've tried them and they are pretty good. As far as I know they haven't gone on sale recently so it's not like you had options.
Nevertheless if you feel stupid for buying them you can always ship them to me and I'll get rid of that burden ;)

I got the WH xm4's and my sis the xm5's and I honestly can say they ain't much better and the shape seems to put more pressure on the ears. But it also could be that I've worn mine a bit longer making them looser / the cups a bit softer. But it's not a waste of Money if you actually use them in your day to day

Of course not. They are compelling very good sounding convenient daily drivers with all the features you need.
Even though many of us here do much prefer spending less on headphones with thick cables and audiophile grade sound, there’s nothing at all wrong with products like the XM5. They got their place.
In many stores they'll be on a black Friday sale. Use your 30-day return policy (if you bought it from a store that offers that) and ask for a pricing difference return if your specific store puts them on sale.
