A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

In light of seeing a few posts about pictures with people in them I wanted to share a quick story that made me smile earlier

I am visiting new Orleans and I wanted to take a picture of a flower bed and the logo of the bar we were going into because I liked how it looked. I wasn't paying attention before I snapped the pic and when I looked up after I noticed that there was a couple sitting in the window smiling and waving for the photo

I know this isn't representative of every interaction someone will have whole out taking photographs but it was very sweet

I have a similar photo from temple bar in Dublin. I was trying to get long exposure shots and just trying to get my timing right wenn I saw in teo of my photos people waving and making funny faces from inside of a bar. After that we all had a good laugh :)

I was at city park in New Orleans a few months ago, late afternoon. If you’ve been, you know how heavenly that afternoon light can get. I was photographing people as they crossed over that stone arch bridge behind the Cafe Du Monde, kinda hanging out waiting for something or someone interesting to happen. A couple walks onto the bridge and the next thing I know dude’s on one knee. I got an amazing shot and was able to talk to them after and send it to them. Nice to think they’ll treasure that photo for the rest of their lives. Hopefully. 🤞
