Do the Warriors resign him to a team-friendly deal (perhaps $80-90 million/4 years) or let him walk to a new team in free agency?

He is like a sixth man at this point lmao

re-sign.

i think he has every intention of taking a team friendly deal and finishing his years as a warrior

Warriors need to make some type of mega trade using Klay and maybe CP3's expiring contracts along with Kuminga and every picks and swaps that they have available.

Someone like the Bulls are a natural partner as they could send back multiple good rotation players in some combo of Lavine, Caruso, and Vucevic in the same trade.

Right now, the Warriors don't stack up talent wise as a contender and are poised to waste another year of Steph Curry's peak prime.

heard hes asking for more than twice that. so if someones offering it then he should take it

I mean they're not gonna let him walk. So short to a trade u can pretty much expect them to re-up wit him.

4 years? Would just be a “thanks for the memories” gift for Klay.

[–] Baguy21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah don't know about the contract. Warriors really need a number 2 superstar to score them 20+ points atleast. Klay ain't it anymore

$80M for 4 years is a robbery at this point

You can see Klay's decline, tbh klay shouldnt expect a nice contract from warriors. They already gifted him a nice contract after he got hurt in the 2019 NBA Finals

[–] FancyPrint7365@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

whatever contract max strus has - give him that

[–] Poronga-Arenosa@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He's playing like a vet min player. I would be shocked if he got more. He hasn't made 20 points in a single game, he doesn'tplaymake and his defense sucks.

[–] Foi_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

that wouldn't be a team friendly deal, it would be competitive with the market.

[–] PapayaBananaHavana@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Any team with Klay making over 15 million has no shot at being a contender.

[–] atetuna@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why 4 years instead of 5? Lacob can afford to buyout his contract if it comes to that.

[–] venmome10cents@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Warriors would be smart to let Klay find offers from other teams, then offer 80-90% of the highest competing offer. Put the ball in Klay's hands to take the maximum payday (understandable) or take less to put the team (and himself, tbh) in a better position to win.

The Warriors 2022 championship was super impressive but man did they squander multiple young talent.

James Wiseman, 2nd overall - Gone Jordan Poole, really not bad but obviously has his issues - Gone

Moody & Kuminga both lottery picks. Not bad but guys like Franz Wagner and Alperen Sengun are better and we’re both taken 1-2 picks after the guys Warriors took.

Between 3 lottery picks and Poole to come out w old ass CP3 and Gary Payton Jr (who they let go) really feels like mismanagement.

Crazy to think this team coudlve been LaMelo, Franz and Sengun with the aging big 3.

Team-friendly contract that's still potentially an over-pay.

They'll do it for the chance to have him retire with the Warriors. It's good for optics & marketing. Reinforces the idea that they are a great place for free agents to sign because they look after their guys.
