By now, a majority of users here, I imagine. Between the ‘is this fake’ and ‘identify this’ posts, the subreddit has really gone to shit. Some days when you browse new, it’s ALL posts of these two types.

Frankly, I’ve visited here less and less because of it. Those topics tend to be posted by people with no actual interest in watches, or the wrong kind of interest entirely. If you look at their profiles, you’ll see that it’s also usually the first time they post here.

We don’t need those topics or those users. There’s a good reason why other forums outright ban these posts: they add nothing and drive away people who actually want to talk about watches.

Gun to my head, I couldn’t tell you an exact figure. I usually lowball it a bit in case someone calls me on it. I’m comfortable saying it’s ‘around 150’.

Most of those are affordable watches and a sizeable chunk are Casio’s. But there’s a few expensive pieces as well. I like a bit of variety.

Nice collection. Personally, I’m more into affordable rather than expensive watches as well, though I do admit to owning a few of those as well.

Watch collecting can be expensive, but doesn’t NEED to be. From personal experience, some 100 euro watches bring more joy than some 1000 euro watches. The thing that attracts me to watches is usually interesting stories and designs, not the sticker price.

One thing that’s definitely lacking from this collection would be a Vostok Amphibia. A highly regarded, uniquely designed dive watch with a lot of charm. It’s a Soviet-era watch which leads to some interesting compromises.

Yes, it’s been discussed several times. I absolutely hate those posts. They offer nothing of value and only drive away users. Some days the new post queue is entirely filled with fake and identify posts.

This sub used to be way better.

Collecting is more a matter of intent, rather than the amount of watches or amount spent.

If you actively bought those watches and intend to buy more, you're a collector. Doesn't matter if it's cheap, expensive or a single brand. There's plenty of people who just collect G-Shocks for example.

That man’s lucky he never met a poster from here :D

Sure, $400 is more expensive than a $20 Casio, but when the cheapest current Apple Watch runs you $400+, that’s not exactly bragging material.

And to brag about THAT particular watch? Man, get the fuck outta here. That guy wouldn’t even get roasted on the circlejerk, we’d take pity on the poor guy.
