I mean, if you can't laugh at your yourself

[–] Lost-Environment957@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah I have a lot of respect for people who are chill with this. I remember there was an NBA player named Corey Maggette whose nickname was Bad Porn because "Sure there's scoring and penetration but do you really like what you're seeing?" and he mostly laughed it off.

[–] TheKingMonkey@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Hey! He scored yesterday!

[–] ash_sh_03@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I have mad respect for people who can take criticism/see it in a positive light. Even more so considering that 99 percent of professional athletes have such fragile egos.

[–] Lambchops_Legion@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

99 percent of non-athlete would be just as “fragile” if their lives were so public, it just goes untested

[–] TigerBasket@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It takes a lot to grow a thick skin. And even with one, things can set you off. I've never yelled at anyone in anger in my life, but the time someone was terrible to my gf I got so pissed I started seeing red. Shit just happens sometimes

NEVER HAD TO KNOCK ON WOOD

[–] SlowJay11@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

This could not be me. There's no way I'd be reading this shit in his posisition, I don't think I'd do social media at all.

Someone in our match thread against them last week said his pocket had another pocket which had Antony in it...or something like that. Completely nullified Antony that day.

[–] lilpump006@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Is it really that hard to pocket Antony???

[–] GarfieldDaCat@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Shade to the inside, give him the wing to run down and pass backwards. I’ve done it. I’ve pocketed Antony

[–] SwitchHitter17@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Antony cuts inside straight into your pocket.

[–] lawfulkitten1@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I mean he usually beats our left backs (zinchenko is not the best one on one defender) he just has awful end product / decision making. But actually keeping him quiet the entire match is an accomplishment imo

[–] No-Pension-7977@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I mean, John from down the block who plays for Hogwarts United in the 13th tier can pocket Antony

[–] GameplayerStu@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

That isn’t as impressive as you’re making it sound to be.

[–] YCJamzy@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah, but antony puts himself in a pocket. He’ll find a way to be pocketed by anyone

[–] DildoFappings@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Some people don't understand that football is not as easy as it seems. From the stands and the TV, you get a top view where you can see every player and the entire pitch. But the players don't get this view.

[–] UltimateBorisJohnson@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Why can’t he just play from the stands? Is he stupid?

[–] Conscious_Scheme132@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It’s not exactly mocking it’s a Fulham fan isn’t it so a tongue in cheek chant

[–] PringleJones@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He gets pelters from our fans non stop. It's easy likes on twitter so even if he's played well, there will be tons of tweets saying he's the worst player to play for the club.

[–] MyCodenameIsIan@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

A lot of social media is managed by agencies and use automation that likes tweets about their clients with positive sentiment. Sometimes these tools get the sentiment wrong.

[–] PringleJones@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

His twitter is 100% run by him. There's no automated tool to like Always Sunny and Fortnite tweets.

[–] mrbasil_fawlty@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

as long as they are talking about you..

[–] dontcarenotbothered@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Most talented USMNT player.

[–] tuerancekhang@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago
[–] Adventurous_Team285@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Respect but he is honestly very bad. Few seasons in the prem and no real improvement.

[–] bambinoquinn@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I like him as a player but yesterday was a mixed bag and mostly bad, own goal, at fault for a goal and got an assist.

[–] KonigSteve@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Couldn't really blame him fro the OG though.

[–] JessyPengkman@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Isn't he one of your better players?

[–] 1000Dragon@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He is. Good defensively, good pace, but has the unfortunate task of almost everything going down the left and then being crossed into a box of 4 defenders and maybe 1 striker if we’re lucky.

Tactically we look terrible right now and our strength of scoring from set pieces isn’t there this season. Part of it due to losing Mitro who was a miracle worker, but what Silva does right now in a match isn’t good enough and it isn’t all on the strikers - we’re not trying different things to create chances and every match seems to be the same.

[–] The_39th_Step@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I’d agree with that. I’m a huge Marco fan but we really need to find a different way to play. This isn’t working. We basically never change our system

[–] burgerbr0s@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Wish he would have retweeted it for the vibes.

[–] PurpleIcewind@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Really thought he looked poor yesterday.

[–] Eindacor_DS@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I wish I could take criticism like some of these guys. I could get the most constructive, sensible criticism in the world and it feels like I'm getting attacked with a knife

[–] circa285@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Was it not long ago the Fulham fans were worried that one of the "big" teams were going to come in and buy him?

[–] Psycho_Ebube@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I applaud the self awareness.

[–] thisiskyle77@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Levy style.

[–] Young_Neil_Postman@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

[–] Aggravating-Oil2048@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago
