I'm looking for a router for my new rack, and need some recommendations. None of my current systems use 10G ethernet yet, only 1G, so I suppose a 1G router will suffice. Can I get a decent rack mount router (I do not care about having wifi on it or it being new) for around or under $200 USD? Any recommendations?

I virtualized my router...opnsense. Just runs in proxmox with all my other vms. Have you explored that option?

The downside of this is more wife/family use and appeal if the server goes down. One thing goes south while I'm not there and my family would murder me.

Dell R240 or R230 with OPNsense would be a great option.

Cisco rv345. Those are cheap used, and give you a ton of customization options in software, and are rack mountable.

Got a friend with a 3d printer? You can make anything rackmount if you try hard enough :)

I have an RB5009 rack mounted and I like it. Only buy mikrotik if you are open to a steep learning curve, though.

You could likely find a Ubiquiti UDM pro on eBay for around or just under $200. It has a small amount of 10g connectivity and a built-in 8 port gigabit switch, and a really nice web-based user UI.
