The counter to that is a job is for money. So long as you made some money, you did real work. How you made that money or what you did making that money so long as not immoral or illegal is nobody's business (even immorality could be nobody's business as long as you aren't eating babies or a terrorist)

If you made no money at all, then the counter is you were learning either learning how to sell or learning how to build or so on. If you made no money until 35 then their criticism of you is somewhat valid (everyone should be able to support themselves at a certain point) and you will have to make money in some way shape or form (or get off their teat) if they don't want you using their money

You are in good company. I had some wins some losses but did it all my own. Many many others as well. As long as you didn’t lose their money they can suck it. Abe Lincoln had a failed business and came out ok (vampire hunter not president 😁)

What often works is to get a job, provide for family while saving up, then try again when there is enough capital to enable your experience to deliver success.

Anybody that has tried to start a business successful or not understands the pain of going through it and anybody that hasn't been through it completely underestimates it.

If my family members that have been through it were busting my balls I would listen because I knew they would impart some knowledge on me. But if it's just aunt Meg who attends PTA meetings and lives off the government I I wouldn't give her a second thought

you never fail until you stop trying, this is simply an opportunity, now you can see who the people who will be there when you're at your lowest are. i'm sorry its not your family, but at least now you know who to keep out of your will and who to not share your millions when you finally make it.

Family are awful, you dont choose them, and i dont know about you, but my family were constantly critical of my life choices - at some point you need to learn to ignore the base less criticism and filter only the criticism that is valid.

being an entrepreneur is one of the hardest things you can do career wise, the reality is the probability of failure is very high so the fact you didnt succeed this round is not even worth thinking about, just step up, brush yourself off and try again, walk your own path and dont worry what other think, it literally doesnt matter, dont take their criticism personally, at the end of the day, they aren't walking the path, you are, and its easy to point faults from the sidelines.

It's part of the process and journey. When we fall, eat some lemon, take some hits, we get up, review the lessons, mope for 10 minutes and then move on.

Conversely if you do well, the situation will be opposite, but don't forget to review and learn!

Last venture was an influencer marketplace. Like an amazon to book influencers for your brand.

Im sorry that your family is humiliating you, but based on this being your failed "entrepreneur" experience, I tend to think your family isnt actually humiliating you. Its likely they are telling you to get a real job because influencer isnt a real job and a marketplace for that is beyond one of the funniest business model idea ive seen in awhile. You are just feeling humiliated because they were right.

It is better to have a glorious failure, than dreams in your drawer.

Navigate the bad energy into the will to show them that you will be successful one day, people will always have things to say, the question is how you respond to it.

With every failure you learned a lesson, experience is the key for many things, including success. so maybe as an entrepreneur you have failed so far, but your knowledge and experience is priceless, use them, and one day you're gonna rock it! I believe in you!

Read up on Stoicism. I suggest:

- The ancient art of stoic joy (irvine)

- Dying every day, Seneca in the court of nero

- Man's search for meaning (Frankl)

- Thoughts of a philosophical fighter pilot (Stockdale)

-----> Basically, you separate what you can control from what you can't and focus on moving forward. Maybe read Jordan Peterson's 12 rules for life.

You're young. My divorce started at 42, my old kids never wanted to speak to me again, my settlement was for essentially all my money (I would keep the house and $80K of retirement), my projected income after taxes was less than my total support. Yet here I am, at 47, rebuilt and moving forward.

You're 7 years younger than I was back then.

Get out there and rock it.

I remember reading that successful entrepreneurs usually go through at least 9 startups before realizing the one that works. Problem is... even then, you never know it works. I have operated startups that threw out half a million a year... 100% felt like i would fail in the next month...

Keep in mind my favorite quote, by Teddt Roosevelt:

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."

You aren't a failed entrepreneur, you just haven't succeeded yet. 35 is still very young. Most successful business people took several times at bat before hitting a home run. You have time for many more times at the plate. Ignore those booing from the stands, who are rooting for you to fail. They are a sad, pathetic losers, who want you to be a sad pathetic loser, too. Focus on those who are cheering for you.

Read some of your comments. Your family are wrong. Owning and running your business is often far far more work than just getting a job. I should know, I work for my small family business and my Father who built the business has sacrificed far more than anyone I know.
