going to be locking up everyone's favorite players for many years to come

[–] LoWE11053211@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

after all those kawhi 2.0

this may be the closest

[–] Wavepops@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He doesn’t play like kawhi

[–] cactusmaster69420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Defensively

[–] Barncore@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They're pretty different on defense, style-wise. Ausar is a way more powerful athlete. Kawhi is more cerebral. Ausar is more like a really strong clamp, or like a bulldog with lock-jaw. Kawhi was more like a shark, circling and waiting for the right timing.

Okay I came to this video full of energy to say he's no KG or Bill Russell wtf is this exaggerating with the headlines

Nope what the fuck is this kid

[–] rjcarr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I liked about 3 min in when he's perfectly mirroring LaVine from like 3 inches away.

[–] dabong@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's the craziest for me. He just glides, perfectly to shadow him. Perfect lateral movement.

Favorite rookie so far this year and to think many people felt that Amen was so far ahead of him in development when they got drafted. Amen will be good too, just behind a bunch of guys but Ausar is literally a 2K player in both natural ability and stats lol

[–] pyrotech_support@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Neither twin was ever far ahead of the other - the roles they’ve been developing towards just diverged about 2 years ago.

Amen has been developing as an offensive primary ball handler in the halfcourt, which has a really high learning curve and failure rate because it demands shooting + handle skill development.

Ausar has been developing as an off-ball menace. There have been a few guys to be among the best in the league as defensive playmakers year 1 recently. Thybulle and Eason for example. It’s a lower learning curve, particularly on defense.

Their actual underlying skillsets, tools, and just the way they move are super similar though, I think either could play like the other without too much adjustment period — I mean, they’re identical twins.

[–] 2ToTooTwoFish@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yup, Amen is being tried as the primary ball handler so he's not going to look good so soon. He's gotta get that ankle right though or it's going to be worrying health-wise.

Trade Amen to Portland, where they have a young backcourt that can shoot okay enough (Simons+Shaedon) and two way center who can rebound (Ayton), similar to Detroit, and I think he'd produce similar results.

[–] TheTonyDose@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He’s like when you create a new my player and you can’t score on the cpu yet so you’re purely hustling on defense and rebounds to get buckets.

[–] tigerpawn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

EXACTLY! Lol

[–] jer113@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The consensus was that Ausar was the better player now, but with a lower ceiling, and Amen was the worse player now, but the better overall prospect and athlete.

Either way too many people slept on these kids, they’re gonna be very good NBA players

[–] buffalotrace@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Slept on them? What nonesense are you talking about? they were both top 5 picks in the nba draft? Were you going to take them over Wemby?

[–] EGarrett@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wembanyama: What he say fuck me for?

[–] KcoolClap@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Amen can do all of that, plus shoot. A real shame that he is unable to get more playing time.

[–] 6unk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Great video. Hard to believe anyone that big can move like that: looks more like a 135 pound fighter. Near-instant explosive direction changes while appearing to hardly load up the knees and hips.

[–] LordVarys_Ladybits@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Great body type for MMA.

[–] BoopasaurusRex_____@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lebron was definitely a crazier athlete

[–] XDYassineDX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lets go!! Ausar thompson propaganda.

[–] MrAppleSpoink@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he polishes his rougher edges, this guy will be a nightmare.

[–] asianxxurlacher@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Damn he really is kawhi 2.0

[–] watchmenavigate@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

i am obsessed with this kid’s game he is so fucking electric

[–] TylerNY315_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I haven’t watched a Pistons game yet this year but wow those block highlights are all disgusting

[–] Wavepops@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s the Andre iggy 2.0, somehow is slightly more athletic than prime iggy

[–] YoHoochIsCrazy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lavine for Ausar pls

[–] marion_and_beau@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

First Team All-Defense so far.

[–] baseketball@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Amazing BBIQ combined with ridiculous athleticism.

[–] Baconmazing@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Reminds me a lot of Lonzo on defense. Better rebounding, better finishing.

[–] Stayy_Saltyy_Seattle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Probably my favorite basketball channel these days, this guys videos are always worth a watch

[–] detroitpiston@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

already a t30 rebounder & defender

[–] sideney@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Another what if in progress at House Pistons

[–] rudebwoy100@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

His brother Amen needs to be freed and given to a team that wants to develop young talent, Amen is actually the better player and not even getting playing time.

[–] Barncore@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I had no idea he was this much of a beast. His twitch-athleticism reminds me of Shawn Marion.

[–] MoooonRiverrrr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I love defense so much

[–] LordVarys_Ladybits@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dude is the definition of a top prospect with vast potential. Could develop into a more athletic/fluid and hopefully healthier Kawhi

[–] durmduke@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Love this kid's game. He should be be all defensive second team this year
