I do, but not much these days. I’ve got kids and a career with meh work life balance. Sleep, exercise, and hobbies all compete for the remainder.
On a good weekend I can get a couple of hours in though.
I usually catch five or ten minutes here and there. So, no.
I'm on long-term term sick leave and stuck in my apartment and broke 95% of the time, gaming is basically the only thing I can do.
I've decided that gaming is my top solo hobby, so I dedicate the appropriate time to it. On most days, I can get a solid hour in, sometimes 2 if I'm caught up or ahead on errands and making food.
I have a few friends, we play several hours per day. two of us are parents, but kids are 5+. it was way more difficult before.... one is single and only does work/play. one is in a relationship w/o kids all working.
Plenty of time, but my wife and I have had kids yet
I find myself playing games that involve exploration or retro arcade games. Missions and assigned side quests often feel like doing chores. I can follow a line on a map and get frustrated in real life.
That being said, I had a nice time playing Breath of the Wild and old arcade games were designed to take your quarters so they can be quick to play if you suck. Gradius doesn’t take me long to die in even with the Konami code.
I quit GTA V when it told me I had to drive from Beverly Hills to Long Beach and I was just like, “I’ll just play Tetris.”
I do but tbf I never wanted kids and WFH so I have a very good quality of life
I’m slow burning Skyrim on a second hand steam deck. The plan is to finish one play through in a few years and then start again with a different character.
I don't think I've ever actually finished a playthrough, my game saves always break before that.
I think I’ve finished one game ever. It was GTA Vice City. Of course, not the side quests. I got the game to 49% total completion, I think, with the storyline. Then I lost interest.
I have finished Skyrim once before, a long, long time ago. I’m taking my sweet time now.
It depends; if it's a game only I like, well, I bumblefuck my way through Baldur's Gate an hour at a time after the kids go to bed, when I'm not shit posting or attacking a side project or stargazing. If the rest of the family likes it, my job for the rest of the day is to sit the fuck down and play the game or else.
Weekend mornings I get up before everyone else in the house and usually have a few hours of quiet time with the Xbox before the chaos starts.
Time? Sure, but I don't have the energy or focus.
time, you live on lemmy forcing people to abide by your uneducated comprehension of the english language
No, not really. Not for my own pleasure anyway. When I'm not working, helping my wife out keeping the house tidy and raising our kids, doing misc planning for the family, budgeting, and trying to just relax, I'm too tired to play games.
The only games I play are games with my kids, and even though it creates some fond memories, it kind of kills my enthusiasm for gaming in general. It's sort of like when your job is your hobby, usually the shine of that hobby wears off and it largely becomes a grind.
yes, i do. Almost daily.
I usually make time if there's a particular story driven game I want to play.
Otherwise I choose games that fit between everything else in life. Mostly play indie games these days.
Early 40's married and 2 younger kids. I watch trailers and sometimes play demos, lol. I keep up with the news and over the years my game list that used to be about 10 games a year was 5 then 3 and now it's been like 1 or 2 games a year that I buy. I haven't actually finished any of them either... friends poke fun at me for it as well. I really wish I could play, but it's just not in the cards these days, sadly. I feel like as soon as I sit down, I'm beckoned to take care of something, or one of the kids needs something. I stay up later than everyone else just to get a few hours to do something but I almost never feel the need to play something because I'm either to tired or I play the same 1 game for the past 5 years which is fall guys since a bunch of us hop in and chat while playing something quick and dumb. Mostly, I've just been watching TV shows and passing out within the hour. Always tired these days lol.
Parter for 10+ years with house, 3 cats and both work full time, one of us works remote. With everything going on and/or burn out time to time……answer is no. You should have a hobby or anything for some alone time. (My experience) As a hardcore gamer from 90s to 2010 with 1,200 games played with about 4-6 hours daily(including MMOs)….. once you find a none game related hobby, (I’ve taken up baking) it’s more rewarding than any game (sorry final fantasy, I still love you!). Not even 40 but damn give me any drink, music and some sun for 15 minutes, bake for 2 hours and then back to the personal grind…. Feed cats, pick on my partner, cook, clean, a tv show, read book and pass out…. Repeat. That’s about 2-3 hours free if there isn’t much to do. Everyone is different but hitting life checkpoints/auto saves is what you end up trying to win and get your own high score.
He'll yeah! Though I don't play as much as I did as a teenager. I used to be able to marathon jrpgs. Now I'm lucky to get a round or two of helldivers in before bed.
I have time, but the will is,... eh, meh, nah.
I've done everything in gaming, sometimes ten times over and I'm extremely bored with it. Modern games look nicer but nothing has really changed since 8th gen other than roguelikes, game worlds getting bigger and animation quality.
I find handhelds like 3DS and Switch 1/2 have been the most convenient for gaming as an adult. In the evenings my wife often wants to use the tv so I can sit next to her on the sofa and play games without monopolising the tv myself.
I don’t, and I’m okay with it. I miss it, but I spend what free time I have with my wife.
My former friend group that still plays a lot of video games took a different path. Some have no career progress, others have horrible marriages, and a couple are cheating scumbags.
I like to think my wife and I made some good choices and we work to keep making them.
Yeah. Get up 6 take care of child until 9, work until 530, get home 6, child until 8, dinner, game until 12am. Repeat.
6 hours of sleep? Are you a cyborg?
报复熬夜, I can’t just go to bed after working that long
No, and yes I agree with you
Yes and no. I used to be a night owl regardless but as I've aged staying up past midnight gets harder. during softball season for my daughter when we are literally never home in the evening I can usually do an hour or 2 after wife or kid falls asleep.
During the day spring summer I find I can't play games because I always feel like I should be doing something else even if I have nothing going on. During the winter I find it a bit easier.
I don't have a job right now, so yes. Although mostly not more than few hours per week, since I have better things to do, and it have recently started to feel like I am wasting my life when playing them.
Spare time flows around how busy I am, as probably expected. Lately, not so much time is spare. But soon, maybe.
I'll rock out some agario when I get something accomplished, just as a reward. But that's a 5 minute thing and then I'm off again.
The current project will be replaced by some wow or zero-k when it finishes, and I'll seriously waste some spare time then.
