MODERATORS

Hi All,

I am trying to migrate from reddit to lemmy. Been using on and off for a about year, but now am considering to use it more now.

Would love some recommendations for communities to join? Especially in the following topics:

  • finance
  • investing
  • movies & tv (trending + review)
  • books
  • science and tech
  • aerospace and space engineering
  • any other perhaps you want suggest.

Thanks!

I migrated by sitting in all and using the Subscribe and Block options. Eventually my subscribed view was showing me items of interest and I was spending a lot less time in All.

This is the way. Don't be scared to block communities or even users that posts content you're not interested in. Eventually you will have curated your feed

Same here. It’s been reasonably effective too.

I went in with this being my strategy too, but ended up just sticking with using /all and not bothering with my subs.

Once you've got anything undesirable blocked, you're golden. And always finding new communities.

Every few weeks I spend a couple days in All, just in case anything new catches my eye.

!television@piefed.social is really active and the mod works hard. It's a nice place to hang out

https://lemmy.world/c/perseverancerover Is a space one that doesn’t come up a lot but is cool when it does.

!communitypromo@lemmy.ca has a pinned post

I was literally coming here to tag you, but you're already here!

I don't know but let me know if you find a Bogleheads.

And I'm sure you know already but you can block out all the bullshit political and tankie instances with a couple of clicks! No more sifting through the muck if you're an 'All' scroller.
