I’m very new to all this. Thanks for sharing. It’s refreshing to see less edited photos!

A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.
This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.
As usual the winning photos are amazing but there are some weird choices for some of the portfolio categories. I was shortlisted with a few images but looking at the winners, I never stood a chance lol
Most of the photos in the "Photographer of the Year xxx" categories were very nice to look at, however the one chosen for "Photograph of the Year" seems ... odd. At least 8 photos from the previous category were more worthy IMO.
Nevertheless, a fun read for today.
I love it and am glad they didn’t give it to an earthporn-style shot.
Agreed. That is honestly the one photo in the bunch that really didn't even catch my eye. It's nothing special compared to every other photo.
Yeah, I don’t get that photo at all.
That’s one I’d delete without a thought, but I’m just an enthusiast 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for sharing this here! As one of the organizers I’m very happy with the results. Happy to discuss how they were arrived at.
I tend to avoid looking at photo contest results because of questionable editing choices made, the same old locations over and over, and ultimate controversies as to the authenticity some winning photographs. The Natural Landscape Photography Awards may not always choose the winners I would have, but the process to arrive there is robust, and the photographs are always great.
I love these awards, and my only sadness is part of me wishes it was all portfolio based, eg more the photographer of the year, and less photograph of the year.
Some incredible shots. Glad to see Adam Gibbs’ name for third place.
Jesus they were all amazing photos.
