A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Self-explanatory. I shoot multiple forms and take videos occasionally. I don't have too high of a budget and "investing" for more money really isn't an option, so I'd appreciate whatever suggestions you can give. Budget is $100, maybe can fit in $150, but would like to see if there's any hidden gems y'all have. I know literally everyone has a $500 to $1000 Manfrotto or Miller, but again, not much of a budget.

I currently have a $40 amazon tripod from ultimax, it's pretty good but the legs are gruadually getting weaker, and a plastic piece to a part snapped, doesn't hender the use but is still annoying to work with. Main concern for me is supporting weight, and good legs!

I use a knockoff Manfrotto that I got about eight years ago with the intention of replacing when my budget permitted. Eight years later, I have found that the tripod is very sturdy and durable. I also picked up a gimbal a few years ago which is my go to tripod head unless I am traveling overseas. Look on Amazon for something that is built like a Manfrotto. Hopefully, you will have the same luck that I did.

If you're near a metro area, then search for a local photography swap meet. i have gotten great deals on bags, tripods, lenses, filters, bodies. And have sold gear to vendors at them too. I suggest this because you should find some good options. It's buyer beware but you will be able to give it a good look over before you buy. Short of that, I don't think you will find a sturdy, long lasting tripod in your price range. Also, I assume you are using your camera to shoot video? Otherwise, video gear needs to be on heavier tripods for safety.

Tripods are rated to how much weight the head and legs can hold. So helps to know what kind of setup you want on it.

tripods are made to last.

With that kind of budget look on whatever second hand online market that is available to you. Someone out there is going to be looking to get rid of their tripod or camera gear. Look for mislabeled tripods. The more accurate the description, the closer to retail price.

Anything heavy and sturdy (but you are willing to carry) will be up your alley.
